On the Howard Stern show today, Howard was interviewing Ernest Borgnine "Mr. White Death" and asked who in Hollywood he was friends with today. The only two he mentioned were TS and Larry Manetti. By the way, Borgnine is 91 can you believe it? He's one of my absolute all time faviorite actors.
He is a great actor. I can't believe he is 91. I think I saw a recent Christmas movie he did last year on one of the cable channels. Hallmark channel, but not sure.
The answer is obvious, old man. Logic is irrelevant. It's simply Tropical Madness. (J.Q. Higgins)
How right you are, James! Did you know that he won a best actor Oscar for his role in a movie called, Marty in 1955? He was also once married to Ethel Merman, the great Broadway actress and singer. What a life this guy has led, and he's still going strong!

I got Marty from netflix and watched it a few days ago. What a great film! Perfectly crafted. Very sad and poignant at times, and subtlety hilarious at others, with the two alternating and combining throughout the movie more times than I can remember. I've made my generally low opinion of actors known here on the boards, but Ernest Borgnine gave a fantastic performance. The way he closed his eyes while being turned down for a date on the phone, but continued to talk and control himself was powerful, so heartbreaking. It's a movie that I'll be remembering for years.
The movie made a big impression on a lot of people. I have a friend whose first name is Marty, not Martin, because his mom was so taken with Borgnine's performance. She was expecting my friend at the time she saw the movie. (I'm not so sure he's thrilled with the choice 50 some years later )
Borgnine was wonderful in the role, however.
