Magnum Mania!

How about all the old gang are called back to hawaii to a funeral.
The most obvious plotline would be a suspicious death that TM and pals have to investigate.
This would allow the original cast to re-unite and avoid such casting disasters as was witnessed in recent Starsky & Hutch,Dukes of Hazard, Miami vice movies.
However the most successful films of recent times have seen established franchises up dated with the original stars.

Its a sweet plot, but... I think the chance that its going to happen will be very... very small. Too bad ofc.

I think the studio has in mind some no talent hack cheesing it up for two hours on the screen making a mockery of what was a wonderful show for eight seasons.

in all fairness I thought Miami Vice 2006 was good. It was different than the 80's show (And I'm a huge fan) but it was a dark and gritty vice that was updated to modern times. I think you can't do that with Magnum p.i. Stallone, Ford, Willis etc have come back to their old roles and I believe Selleck and co can do the same! The studio would make a lot more money if they go with the original actors!!! I like your idea for the story too. It makes sense for the plot.
