TM Timeline

Hey gang,

I am trying to figure out TM's historic timeline...

here's what I have/think, please let me know if you think its wrong or have additional insite to the missing time...

1945 - Born
1950 - father dies
1963 - 1967 USNA
1967 - 1971 ????
1971 - 1972 1st tour
1972 - 1973 2nd tour
1974 - 1975 3rd tour (Fall of Siagon)
1975 marries Michelle
1975 - 1979 NIA (resigns at 33)
1980 - move into Robins nest

Miss Q, I think thats about right.

Only thing I would say is try to figure out when his Mom married Frank...

What did he do during 1967- 1971? He had to be in the military somewhere. The Naval Academy doesn't just give you 4 years of school and then say "See you in a few years." :?

I know 8/8 is his birthday, and I think 1945 would be correct as it would put him graduating from the Academy in'67. Also, he went to the USNA not USMA. That is a big sticking point for us former sailors :) .

Looks like a good start.

Perhaps the delayed start in his tours was SEAL training? Seems like a long time though.

There's also a gap in his tours, '73 - '74. Unless his first tour was '72 - '73, not '71 - '72. I haven't keep close taps on his date references to 'Nam, so I'm not positive how these align.

Slight correction, his father died in 1951 not 1950. Not sure if it's said to be 1950 in another episode, but 1951 is from the funeral in Home From the Sea (4.1).

OK, after graduating what would the military have him do before deploying to Vietnam???

Would seals training be during his time at USNA or in addition to it??

Maybe he was stationed near his mom for a bit????

Anyboby have any guesses????

Looking at Wikipedia, it seems that it does take quite a while to complete SEAL training.

I would think the SEAL training, and maybe some other assorted Naval training would make up for the time gap. Great topic for discussion Miss Q! I had never thought of a TM timeline before.

OK.... Can you help me narrow down the Magnum Peterson wedding date....

My best guess would be 9 months before Joey died.... so who remembers the dates engraved on 'the wall' when TM visits it???

ok, now you are confusing me... what Joey a step or half brother?

my thought was he was a half brother and Katheryn had him shortly after
TM III died... making Joey 7-8 years younger than TM.

So sorry. I left out the period after 1973. If Katherine married Frank about 9 months before Joey died, it would have put the date of the marriage in '72 or '73. That didn't make sense to me. For Joey to have died in Nam near the end of the war, he would have needed to be 20-ish at that time. I'm obviously not following your train of thought. :oops:

I assumed that Katherine had married Frank between 1952 and 1954, in order to have Joey be the right age to be in Nam near the end of the war. His name was close to the end of the Wall, so he most likely died in the very late sixties or early seventies. Subtracting 20 from his date of death gives the early '50's for a DOB. And it fixes the wedding date a bit before that. (Okay, now I've confused myself.)
