Does anybody know where I could get Dark Blue King Kamehameha Tanktop that Magnum wore? I've tried ebay but no luck.

Hi John....Welcome to the forum.

There is a section devoted to MPI gear but it looks like the only option is ebay.

On a different "Magnum Gear" item, I think I have determined that the imitation (or authentic) Rolex GMT watch TM wears is not a very practical watch for us female fans -- just TOO big for our delicate little wrists! So I found a substitute for us! I just got this one on eBay:

ersatz Magnum ladies' watch

Granted, it's gold-toned instead of the stainless steel (or is the Rolex really white gold or platinum?), but it sort of has the "Pepsi" bevel, and it is a dive watch. I just wish the bevel was blue and red instead of black and red. But it's the closest I could come to at an affordable price. Therefore, I figure this will be a good distaff version to wear while I'm snorkeling in the tidal pool . . . . and this seller has more of these at that price.

golf

And P.S. In the scene where the females kick the snot out of TM, he says take his money, he has only $8 on him, then he offers his watch and says it's worth about "$17." He's not wearing his dad's Rolex any more???? Is that a flub? I thought he ALWAYS wore his dad's watch once that storyline was established.

Hey golf, I like the "ladies Magnum watch". It looks good!

The Rolex is also not very practical for most of us guys. Namely because IT COSTS ABOUT FOUR GRAND! ;)

That scene was in "Legacy From A Friend" from Season Three. Magnum didn't start wearing his Rolex until after the first episode of Season Four ("Home From the Sea"). For the first three seasons he usually wore a Chronosport Dive watch.

The GMT II now sells for around 6k. The Chronosport was also a very expensive watch. Somehow related to Breitling I think. Look at Invicta for a good alternative. They are a real Swiss company with an extensive line of automatic watches at great prices. Most similar to the GMT (in appearance) are their dive watches which obviously don't function like the GMT.

Here's a lady's watch that is very close in appearance:

For men they have them at around $100 but no blue/red bezels that I could find. For a little more this is a dead ringer for a Rolex Submariner both in form and function:

Hey John,

I'm new to the forum - but your post was what got me in....I've been on the same trail as yourself - looking for a place to get a King Kamehameha Tank - but with no luck. Its such a cool logo.

Anyway my searches were all dead ends, so I decided to make one myself. - I hand drew up a stencil and am still in the process of experimenting with fabric dyes, silk screening, etc.

I'll let you know how I go...

If I can work out how to attach a pic - I'll show you my attempt at the stencil.

Mat.

Well folks, thanks again to this site I was able to find something I had been looking for. I ordered a pair of the Navy Seals shorts.
My wife, Son & I are taking a cruise in a week and I plan on wearing these shorts no matter how much my wife complains or son laughs at me. I guess I never understood the reasoning behind the style of swimwear for men now that goes down to the knees. I am tall (6'2") still have some okay looking legs at 53 years old and plan on getting some sun on them when I am swimming, not just a tan from the knees down!!!

One piece of gear I have not seen anyone mention is magnum's green military issue tank top. None of the ones I've seen online deem close to TM's. if anybody has a lead on where to find one, please post! BTW I love this forum! I've also been searching for a King kam tank top, but no luck.

I can't take it anymore!

I've spent literally hours and hours trawling through the net looking for the brand of blue singlet that Selleck wore. I went a bit crazy for a bit... anyway, it can't be found. There is no club in Hawaii online that used the logo (as it has been suggested this might have been a canoe club logo or something).

If anyone can provide screenshots from the DVD of Mag's blue KK tank logo, I'll make a vectorised Illustrator drawing of it so you can get a clean, print on a singlet. I've already got a very rough version drawn, but to get it more accurate I'd need some good screenshots to use to trace...

OK guys - I've tried to post a picture that I managed to 'transcribe' from an season 2 episode 'computer date' the one where Higgins goes into training to lose some weight.

I'm still not sure how to get these photos ready to be viewed..? any ideas on how this is done without an online photostorage account of any kind would be appreciated.

Stencil or drawing taken from screen shot.

Hope this helps.
I'm still in the process of finding the best way to get the image onto my tank tops - permanantly.

OK - I feel like a total noob, however with some help from you guys I think I've got what a lot of us have been looking for.

The image outline isn't perfect - I did only hand draw it. The 44 certainly isn't perfect however you could always just use the outline and change them yourself by printing the number 44 off the computer of something.

Hope this helps - enjoy.

Nb. I took this design from a season 2 ep: 'computer date' Its the more detailed design of at least two that I've seen magnum wearing.

Season 2 ep 16 (I think) 'Coputer date'

It's pretty close to being right, Matt.

If you don't mind, I'll use it as a template to tweak a CAD drawing of it that you could send to a printer to have put on a tank top. I notice you're in Australia too. I can get one printed for you if you'd like.

I'll post a picture of it once I get it done. If anyone would like it (and is not going to use any of this to sell for profit) I'll send it to you as a vectored PDF so you can get a clean print.
