Opening Credits Location

Maybe I missed it, but was the location of the linked shot below ever located? It's from the pilot opening credits where Magnum drives the Ferrari on the one-lane road along the cliff.

That's the road just above Hanauma Bay, which is now closed off for vehicles. You can only hike there these days. It was featured numerous times on the original Hawaii Five-O, back when cars were allowed to drive up there. There was even an episode with a police chase that took place on that stretch of road. Shame everything is being closed off these days. Just like Kamehame Ridge which used to take you all the way to the edge of the cliff right above the Anderson Estate (Robin's Nest). Can't go there anymore these days. I tried last year :( .

I didn’t know about that spot and just looked it up on Google Maps. The road is there and goes past something called Winners Camp Foundation. Is that the point where it’s cut off? There are more buildings and what looks like an overlook with a railing at the end of Kamehame.
I didn't realize you were so addicted to pool.
It's not pool.

I'm not sure what Winners Camp Foundation is but if you look at Google Earth (where it shows you the actual terrain) you'll see that at a certain point along Kamehame Dr. the residential properties end and you can actually see the gate there at which point you can't drive further down Kamehame Dr. past that gate. The rest of the way it looks like just a solitary winding road which makes its way along the mountain ridge all the way to the edge of the cliff overlooking Waimanalo and the Anderson Estate below. I think near the cliff there is a building or two (most likely abandoned) but that's about it. From what I have read at the edge of that cliff was some kind of landing called "Dead Man's Walk" which was a popular spot for hang-gliders taking off. I think this was also the spot at the end of "Mad Buck Gibson" where Mad Buck takes his final flight. I think some folks still try to sneak up there but it's forbidden. Like I said, too many restrictions in place these days.

Hi Ivan,

I've been up that road to the gate where I then had to turn around. I ended up hiking in on the Tom Tom Ridge Trail which connects to the landing you referred to as "Dead Man's Walk". The views up there are INCREDIBLE, quite windy too! You are right about that spot being used in the final scene of Mad Buck Gibson. I didn't have to sneak up there or even see signs saying Keep Out / Forbidden etc., but that was quite a few years ago so who knows what's going on up there nowadays.

Here is the original intro so you guys can break it down frame by frame if you like.
