Magnum Mania!

Yes, yet another Doc Ibold post that may or may not have anything to do with anything...

But, in your opinion, which Magnum PI character do you feel most represents you?

Magnum?
Higgins?
TC?
Rick?

Myself, I would probably say Higgins, with a little bit of Rick and TC thrown in.

Higgins: I live a pretty regimented lifestyle, and I'm annoyed when anything throws it off (bit not overly so- I'm known for having a bit of fun when the time calls!). I like dogs (even though I have nothing against cats), I have a bunch of useless knowledge running about in my brain (If Jeopardy would ever call me back. DAMN YOU TREBEK!). I tend to be a little more verbose than usual when telling a story (See my synopsis of "Forbidden Island), and I like to have things done in a certain manner. And, I have friends who, to the casual glance, are nothing like me, but I would do anything for.

Rick: Male pride aside, I probably wouldn't take a punch very well. But, that wouldn't stop me from taking it. Plus, my height isn't much to brag about. I AM a few inches taller than Rick, though!

T.C.: I would gripe, grumble, complain, but when a friend asked me to do something that I wasn't particularly fond of doing, I'd drop everything and do it.

And, for the lone Magnum reference, I do have a very juvenile sense of humor and a tendency of not taking life TOO seriously.

Feel free to delete, James, but I just finished up a pretty long day at work, and I couldn't resist!



Can't wait to see what everyone else thinks! I think it'll be a nice way of everyone getting to know each other better.

(Also, it doesn't HAVE to be the four listed above. Carol, Tanaka, Agatha, Maggie, etc. can be included too).

I'd have to say TC. I do gripe, grumble and then (hopefully) come through for a friend. To be honest with you, there are times I have thought that I'd never put up with the way Magnum treats his friends, etc. TM always seemed a bit irresponsible to me.

Hey Doc...great question! I am terrible at self-evaluation and find it hard to classify myself in reference to a Magnum character. My husband says I'm most like Magnum. I'm taller than the average woman....5'10" and own no formal or dressy clothing. I like to go to Disneyland every Sunday, drive a convertible, love the taste of beer, (too bad Old Dusseldorf and Coops aren't real) and swim everyday in our saltwater swimming pool, and have one biological child. I do have a little of T.C. and Higgins in me because I am a realist, and sometimes complain a little too much and can be rather verbose when called upon, at times. However, with that being said, I don't take advantage of my family and friends, and would do anything for them, because I know they'd do the same for me, and they have!

As for the way Magnum treats TC and Rick....as I've said in a post before....I don't think that anyone but a person that has had to face death EVERY SINGLE DAY, when in the military could understand this. When you are in that situation, you have to rely upon others just to say alive. When you share an experience such as that, it creates a unique relationship bond that doesn't exist when you live day to day in a non-threatening atmosphere. If you've never been in that situation, it remains a mystery to you, and always will until you experience it. My husband has a friend that he credits with getting him through 4 years of the Vietnam War, and would do anything for him, and does, no matter how bad this friend treats him, and they have kept in touch for over 40 years. They are very close, like brothers in a sense, because they have that shared experience.
