She's one of those celebrities I had forgotten was still alive until she died. I have to admit, I was never her biggest fan, the sort of breathless little girl persona well into mid-life and beyond, the raspy voice. Raspy voices, especially in people who sing, are like nails on chalkboard to me. If anyone ever wanted to get secret information out of me, all they would have to do is tie me to a chair and play Michael Bolton or Joe Cocker. Or any man singing in a head voice. I accidentally offended my parents a few years ago because they wanted to give me tickets to Jersey Boys for my birthday and I had such a visceral reaction (in addition to Frankie Vallee-esque falsettos, I also hate jukebox musicals, the lowest form of musical).
