Favourite/Powerful Quotes

Just changed my signature quote.

It’s one of my favourites.

I had a family member a few years ago accuse me of something I didn’t do and called me a liar.

I thought of this quote... When not seeing eye-to-eye in life turns to an attack on your character.

I find it one of the most powerful quotes in Magnum, P.I.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the apology Thomas got from Higgins. :higgins:

Just wondering if anyone has any other ‘out-of-the-box’ favourite quotes.

:)

Higgins, enough!...

Weeeellll, it was less not seeing eye to eye and more having a friend open up to you about something very personal and you come back with, “That’s it?”

Magnum means well, but he really is a bit of an ox sometimes.

I’ll go with Higgins’ reply: “I thought that you would understand.”

Hi T.Q.,
Is this restricted to quotes from Magnum, or are other sources okay?
I always liked this one from the Mad Buck Gibson episode: "It's not that we're getting old, it's just that we're not young anymore".
I think that's the exact quote, I might be wrong, it's been awhile since I saw the episode.

"A man alone just feeds himself. Two men together, dine"...Have Gun Will Travel

I see it that they’re from completely different worlds.

Magnum was trying to understand. Higgins thought he was being ‘flippant’.

It culminated in Higgins’ outburst questioning Magnum’s character.

Sort of like my previously mentioned family member. We speak a totally different language and I am constantly misunderstood and he chooses to interpret things in a negative way (because he’s looking for it) instead of seeing that we are just completely different personalities.

That’s a good one. Also etched in my psyche.

He sounded dismissive to me too, like he expected a better story or something more to happen. He didn't get the point. But as I said, he means well.

I don't know about you and your family member so can't comment on a parallel.

Generation gap. My relative is 25 years older.

Language gap. He thinks ‘crap’ is a swear word and I’m being offensive. If I say something like I ‘freaked out’ at someone he literally things I went on a screaming rampage.

Philosophy gap. I’m more live-and-let-live which he thinks is ‘dismissive’ and not serious.

Etc.

That’s why I brought it up. Our differences morph into him questioning my character.

Magnum is viewed as being immature, dismissive, disrespectful to Higgins but it’s just his way. One that does not represent a lack of character.

Cheers

And Higgins takes his life experiences seriously, which is his way. Magnum didn't take it seriously and Higgins got angry. Hence "I thought you would understand." He feels let down and dismissed, and retreats behind a curtain of insults he doesn't really mean.

These things kind of work both ways. :magnum: :higgins:

Didn't want to get into argument over it.

Just love the quote.

“In all that time I never once worried about Big Fish”.

Another quote I always think of when someone puts something into my head that I wasn’t worried about... then start worrying about it.

"If you've come to abscond with Teresa
before we've finished skinning the walnuts,
you will forfeit your share of the torte."

So be afraid. Be VERY afraid.

Hilarious. I literally just watched that episode 45 minutes ago while on excercise bike.

Funny line. :D
