Pahonu Painting

#1 Post by Styles Bitchley »

Hi guys!

My mom's an artist and I recently asked her to paint something, based on a photo I took while visiting the estate some years back. Thought I'd share! (click the image for a large version)

Hi Styles,

Your mom is very talented - well done!
Maybe James could add it to MM Art Section.
How long did it take to complete and what is the size?
Have you framed it?
I see that you had her remove the "concrete block" that we've discussed over and over or maybe it was high tide the day you took the pic.
Where are you going to hang it?

Thanks guys. It’s about 2’ x 3’. She’s bringing it over later today, so I’ll measure it then. She got it framed for me and it looks awesome. It took her about a full day, with some tweaking over a few more days. She couldn’t tell what the block was in the photo so she decided to leave it out. Looks better, I think!

I love it! Did she use oils or acrylics? I like to paint (not very good) and I've been wanting to do something Magnum themed, but haven't come up with anything that's not too complicated for my skill level. I've done seascapes, but none of them have that Robin's Nest view.
