Another excellent reflection on our favorite show.

Hits the mark pretty darn well regarding the values I always took from the show.

I always get such mixed-up, bungled-up feelings when it comes to anything political in our country anymore, maybe I'm just too much of a malcontent to respect either the "conservative" or "liberal" camp enough to consider either as my political home, or as emblems of my "values."

That's kinda my disclaimer. But with that said, I just love, love, love the last paragraph of this article. I love Magnum PI for being such a nuanced, sophisticated show. Its waters really run deep the moment you plunge into a few episodes. In especially those first seasons, you really see how difficult life can at times make it live up to such values that seem so easy to say. I think it makes the show human, and brilliant. I cherish Magnum PI's little role it played to help heal the country. Somehow, I think this little tv show brought people from many different camps together back in the day. I sure think we desperately need something like that again.

A most excellent write-up!

- Vietnam Vets Are Heroes (absolutely!)
- Race Means Nothing; Character Everything (indeed!)
- Love Never Dies (for some it does die, unfortunately)
- America Is The Good Guy (yep!)
- Fathers Matter (good fathers matter, yes -- a father who says he's going to the store to get a pack of cigarettes and never returns, like Stephen King's father did, does not matter. Absent father's do not matter.)
- Conservative Values Are Correct Values (most of them are, yes)

Yup, yup.

Interesting that those same principles are mirrored on Blue Bloods. :magnum:
