Question About MPI Annuals and Publications From Show's Run

#1 Post by BWheelz54 »

Does anyone on the site know much about the annuals and other publications associated with Magnum PI that were put out during the show's run? I've heard that some of the annuals and other works, one that I've read goes by the name of "Robin's Nest," included a variety of fiction featuring our favorite detective - stories that were never turned into episodes. Do any of the Magnum PI collectors have any of this material? If these annuals are still out there, might they be considered things worth scanning and uploading to the site? I would have some fun reading some of those annuals from the show's run. One fan online even mentioned something about an Magnum PI / Airwolf crossover story - now how fun would that be! Just curious. Is there a better place to go with such a question? I think not! :higgins:

I posted about the 1983 Magnum, P.I. Annual in this thread earlier this year and this site has scans of the annual itself. Coincidentally, I was the wiseacre who suggested the MPI-Airwolf crossover adventure. :P Nice to know someone reads my stuff (I jest).

As to your questions regarding the annuals, many TV shows (UK and US) received the "annual treatment" in the UK. There was another publication, TV Action (issues here), published 1971 to 1973, which focused on Dr Who but also had numerous regular back-up features of other TV series, like Mission: Impossible and Hawaii Five-0. Quality varies, but they're still worth looking into. I wish we in the US had this kind of thing because young me would have leaped at anything MPI in those days (Heck, I didn't even know that there were MPI trading cards until I saw them posted here!).

Very cool link to this Magnum Annual I have never heard of before! Thanks Little Garwood, wherever you are. I like to think you are partnered up with Luther Gillis in his PI firm in St. Louis,
replacing his old sidekick Chuckie.
