Was sitting in a restaurant waiting for my order and picked up the little "Remember When" booklet placed on each table. This one was for 1982.
While paging through it, came to the TV section where they list the most popular shows of the day.
At number 1 was guess what......Magnum P.I.!
This made me smile.
No big deal, just wanted to share a pleasurable experience related to the show.

Those are always fun.
Which is why I was semi addicted to the "I Love The" series on VH1. Once it got to the 2000s, it got a bit ridiculous though.

I'm pretty sure
Dallas was the #1 show in 1982, but who's counting (
Magnum was right up there).
Hurry, don't be late
I can't hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark
Walking through the park
And reminiscing
Sorry, couldn't help myself there. Guilty pleasure of mine.

The following site:
http://www.classictvhits.com/tvratings/1982.htm
lists
Magnum,pi number 4 in 1982 and in the top twenty until 1985 when Cosby came on the scene and Magnum disappears from the top 30 list.
I seem to recall that Magnum was number 1 on Thursday nights BC (before Cosby)

Ok, we can say that ranking is "arbitrary" depending on who made the list.
Let me rephrase my original post:
Magnum P.I. was the first show listed on the page I was looking at!
I didn't think it was ranked #1, especially if Dallas was in the same race. Not quite a broad enough reach at the time.
Maybe the list compiler for this particular publication was an MPI fan?
I do stick to my original reason for posting......the fact that it was listed at ALL made me smile!

Your right, 308. I saw one list that had
Joanie Loves Chachie ranked at number 7 for 1982......
I recall
Magnum,pi and Tom Selleck being quite a phenomenon in the eighties and I am sure it was at the very least ranked number one on Thursday nights...............
