Question on the Complete Series DVD Set

#1 Post by MHTR »

I just read a few of the comments on Amazon's page for the Complete Series DVD Set here.

One person wrote that the Simon & Simon crossover episode is not included (but the Murder, She Wrote crossover is). Can anyone here verify this? I'd hate to shell out the money for this if true. (Who would want to watch a part 1 if you can't watch part 2? Or vice versa?)

I already own the individual season DVDs (which includes both cross-over episodes), so is there any good reason to shell out the extra dollars for the complete series set?

Polite bump. :)

Surely somebody here on the forums has the Complete Series DVD Set.

It's not on there. Which is inexplicable, since every season has bonus episodes; usually consisting of an episode from another 80's show or of the proceeding season of Magnum. The bonus episode on season 3 is "Letter to a Duchess" from season 4.

The version of "Ki'is Don't Lie" on my set is the syndicated cut that wraps up the story in a single episode.

Really is, and seems deliberate for whatever reason. The hardcore fan, the one likely to buy the complete series DVD set, wants this episode too.

Do the single season sets have the syndicated version with the alternate ending as a bonus episode?

For Single Season, the original Season One had Kii's Don't Lie/Emeralds Aren't A Girls Best Friend as a 2 parter, with the Syndicated Version appears on Season 3.

That's silly. I wish these companies put more thought and care into their dvd releases.

My box set:

Season one: has 18 episodes on 6 disks. No bonus episodes, even though there is plenty of room for them on disks 4, 5 and 6. There are only seven episodes total on those three disks so they could have added five "bonus" episodes if they wanted to at little to no extra cost.

Season two: Two bonus episodes. Unfortunately, they are episodes of Knight Rider and the A Team. I can understand wanting to advertise your other series, but they could have just as easily put those two crossover episodes on there.

Season three: One bonus episode from Magnum season 4. I understand the need for advertising, but couldn't they have killed two birds with one stone, and included the S&S episode here? Maybe include the syndicated cut of "Ki'i's" as a bonus on another season.

Season 8: bonus episode is the Tom Selleck episode of The Rockford Files. Neat, but I can't help but notice they were squeezing up to 5 episodes on some of these disks. And they still couldn't find room for S&S?

Thanks everyone. I guess then it isn't worth buying the complete series set.

However, I went back to Amazon and looked at the single season sets, and apparently the first few seasons are no longer being put on double-sided discs. I may just have to replace those seasons I have on those nasty double-sided discs. :)
