Good Magnum & T.C. scenes

#1 Post by J.J. Walters »

Hi guys,

So, an associate producer of Family Guy has contacted me looking for some good Magnum and T.C. scenes (no joke). They are (and I quote), "looking for a short clip that shows both characters together in a medium shot, mainly stationary where it looks like they're enjoying each other's company. Any help would be greatly appreciated." Since this is Family Guy I can only assume this is for inspiration for a scene for a future episode of the show. They have already used several Magnum scenes in previous episodes.

Any suggestions for scenes that I can send this guy?

My first thought was (oddly enough) the final scene in "Round and Around", after they play basketball and share a Gatoraide.

Image

And then I thought, chopper scene. It's gotta be a chopper scene. The scene in "Did You See the Sunrise?", perhaps?

Image

Maybe the baseball scene at the very end of "Tigers Fan"? "Someday you could make it to the Majors."

Image

Or how about the time when they saved a dolphin from being blown up? Good times!

Geez,

Thats kind of a hard one with the stationary stuff (aside from what you already have):

Does it have to be just TC and Magnum?

I think you hit it with the chopper scene, though. (Limbo may also work. Tone might not be there... but Family Guy could switch the conversation to something about a "substance" on fingers.. so it really wouldn't matter!

Hmm.. here are my two cents

All Roads Lead to Floyd (Pre Floyd Crash)
Basket Case (Post Basketball Scene - Kids)
Missing Melody may have a few(Pre kidnapping)
The Woman On The Beach (Crashing Ricks Date and eating his food)

You probably don't want DYSTS? (Duc Wei) or Thicker Than Blood... LOL

Hope it helps!

The first scene that comes to my mind is when TC orders the pickeled egg with the super- serious face.... (Limited engagement)

The scene that immediately comes to mind is from Missing In Action.

It concerns the 50 bucks TM owes TC for replacing spark plugs in the Ferrari. I won't repeat the whole scene ..............

Magnum: TC you mean you'd let me drive out of here broke.

TC: Well that's the way you always drive in !

Magnum: OK I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll loan you ten until this evening.

TC: You'll loan me ten ? You owe me fifty!

Magnum: That's right, which I don't have, so I'll loan you ten to keep you afloat. You can pay me back when I pay you the fifty. :magnum:
"Oh Jonathan !....oh Jonathan, come quickly ...... your hot cross buns are smoking".

Good choices guys! I totally forgot about the "you owe me fifty" and "pickled egg" scenes! Although one person in each of those scenes (T.C. in the first, Magnum in the second) is not really enjoying the company of the other person. Still, I'll shoot them over as a suggestion. :)

Yes, the pickled egg scene is a must suggestion. Also I would include one of the shots of the choppers windshield being shot. I was just watching one where TC is waiting for TM and a shot splatters on the side window and TC utters disgustingly; "Uh huh",but I can't remember which episode.............

How about the scene in "The Woman on the Beach" when Rick's date stands him up and he dejectedly leaves his office at the club. With great glee TM and TC then attack the abandoned dinner for two.

Good one! They're laughing at Rick's absurdity about a very special girl he met at the club just two days ago and how she is changing his life. Then she stands him up.

This would probably be a pretty good one to suggest. Only guessing, but I'd say they would probably be after a relatively funny quote?

That being the case, this quote is a good choice as it doesn't require a vast background knowledge of Magnum PI for non-fans to still find it funny in a Family Guy episode.

I'm assuming they're just going to copy the scene. If they were making their own dialogue for the characters as in previous Family Guy episodes, they wouldn't need to ask JJ'S for a specific scene then right?

I think in the helicopter is perfect and I was considering the "China Doll" scene with the tourists, but that was probably a bit too much bickering. The more I think about it, I think this one, with them laughing about Higgins and "big fish" is perfect.

Ok, I've sent them the scenes. They didn't have the DVD's, so I had to capture the scenes as an MPEG and send it to them. I sent them the "You owe me fifty", "Chopper scene" (from Did You See the Sunrise?), "Pickled egg" and "Basketball/Gatorade scene" (from Round and Around). We'll see what happens!

Thanks everybody! :)

I still say that Fr. Paddy McGuinness came up with the best one from Woman on the Beach, TM and TC laughing hysterically at Rick and then attacking the food, and so I posted the images. The chopper scene is my second choice. Not sure what you are really looking for J.J. but good luck, hope they like it.
