Watching Magnum PI on broadcast TV!

I have many, many tapes of Magnum, I've recorded over the years. Some from the original broadcasts on CBS. I have VHS sets from MCA/Universal, and 10 VHS sets from re-tv/Columbia House. I have all the seasons on DVD! And I hardly ever watch these! But let it be broadcast on some TV station, I don't want to miss them! I can't explain it! It's just something about it being show on TV, that does it for me! Anyone else like that?

Heck yeah, I really enjoy watching vintage tv shows with all the original commercials. There is a magic to them that store bought dvds just don't have. I'd love to transfer your original recordings of Magnum onto dvd. Message me if you are interested.

Brian; I am going out today to get a new VHS/DVD recorder! I'll dig out my old tapes, see what I have, and try some copies! I have no problem, trying to get you copies!

This is precisely the reason I have never bought a DVD. To me the randomness of the episodes that are rebroadcast are the way TV is meant to be watched. I know that is probably weird to many but that is what I grew up with and I am used to it. If I had the Magnum DVDs I know I would probably never watch them. But put them on free TV and I can't wait to watch.

I just can't stand television commercials. I also like being able to hit the pause button while watching a DVD, go to the bathroom or pick up food and come back when I am ready without missing anything.
I still watch broadcast TV movies with commercials but only briefly. The Godfather 1 and 2 aired the other week and some of the scenes are still fun to watch but a DVD is a must to watch a film in its entirety. Sitting through 5 minutes of commercials before the action resumes kills the atmosphere for me.
I used to enjoy watching a complete sports game, but with NFL games they air 5 minutes of Beer and Auto commercials every few minutes. Major league baseball games can now approach 4 hours in length for just 9 innings because of the commercials and NFL games always go over 3 hours. I don't remember watching any entire sports game in years, only soccer is watchable as they have no commercials once the game begins and not until halftime.
It's heaven to pop in a DVD and not be at the mercy of those stinking commercials.

I'm usually doing something as I watch, so commercials aren't a big deal to me; I just focus on that other thing while the commercial is on.

Awesome! Thanks MagnumILWU!!!
I have "Don't Eat the Snow in Hawaii" - "Infinity and Jelly Donuts" - and the 2nd half of "Laura" on DVD with the original commercials from the network broadcasts.

I haven't forgotten! I bought a recorder, also some DVD's with cases, and dug out the old tapes! One broke away at the end of the reel, so I'll have to fix that! I always have believed in; "Don't do anything today, you can put off until tomorrow". So when I do get the tapes recorded on DVD's, I will contact you Brian, to send you copies!

I think part of the appeal of watching a show on broadcast TV (vs. DVD) is the feeling of watching the episode with others at the same time. It's kind of neat to think, "Man, tens of thousands of people are enjoying the same episode, at the same time, as me." It's also nice to not have to pick out an episode, or even to think about it. Whatever is on is on.

Thanks again MagnumILWU.
I've been obsessed with the 80's since the 90's. It's a decade like no other for me, I have been collecting unedited network broadcast for several years. I have hundreds of dvds that are more precious than gold. It's the closest thing to a time machine I can find.
