Tropical Madness in Manhattan?

#1 Post by ConchRepublican »

OK, maybe it's me . . . or just something a MagnumManic would think . . . but this picture was posted on McSorley's Facebook wall (McSorley's is arguably the oldest bar in New York City) . . . and all I could think of was Tropical Madness . . . a midget or a dwarf . . . A MIDGET OR A DWARF!!!!!!

We thought we've seen everything here at McSorleys, then these two show up Saturday night, handcuffed to one another and supposedly one was getting married this week. But which one we didn't ask.

yes, you are right. It is arguable. For the Bridge Cafe was established in 1794.
The Ear Inn first saw commerce in the year 1817.
Chumley's started in the 1830's.
With McSorley's a very young 1854. (Others say 1862).
Yes. To some, arguable. But with this info, unarguably the oldest bar to me.

You left out Pete's Tavern . . .

I've been in all, even had a few McSorley's employees at my wedding so perhaps I'm slightly biased, but it's not nearly what it used to be 20 years ago, but I'm sure people have been saying that for years! . . . but back on point, been to all but Chumleys which has been closed for a few years recently due to a construction issue.

My understanding is that the argument comes into play when one adds the "continuously operating" detail.
