What would TM's last name had been?

I wonder...Why didn't Magnums step father adopt him when he married Magnums mom? He must not have because Tom didn't take his last name, which would have been what? (yes I know, but do you?)

Because Peterson, PI would have made for a very alliterative title for the show?
Because young Thomas was very attached to his daddy and had a sense of family?
Because he never really liked Frank too much?
We'll probably never know...

Oh, I don't know I think PETERSON Pi would have made a great title!

Karrnut aka "Peterson"

Come to think of it, Frank was a real jerk.

I'm not sure it was ever mentioned but how old was Magnum when his mom remarried? If he was a teen or older, he probably just opted to keep his own name. Plus, yeah, the stepdad was a jerk!

Always wished they'd wrote more about Magnum and Tommy...would like to see how Magnum was as a step brother. Wished he had spoke more about him other than than one episode really.

I don't think there was a big difference in their ages, maybe 3-5 years max? If you remember Tommy was killed in Nam.

Sure Tommy didn't survive to be a world class private investigator? After all, it is Joey's name we see on the Memorial... Parallel worlds...
But another episode or two referring to him certainly would have been great, I fully agree.

Come to think of it, that twist of fate sure also didn't exactly help improving his Frank's relation to his step son - his own son dying in VietNam, and troublesome Tommy 'getting away' ... Must have been hard on him.
