Great video eRock, thanks for the link.
Wonder if he knew the significance of the property he was swimming in front of? I'd say he was unaware as he probably would have mentioned it as another attraction if he did know?

Yeah, it appears that he didn't know that Magnum P.I. filmed there. Still, cool video. Paradise!

How long are you staying and what's on the itinerary?

Hello Sam,
we'll be there for 4 nights. I had to cancel the trip to Big Island (we had a terriffic deal on the Orchid hotel).
I am pretty sure, that we'll be at the beach almost everyday, - who knows, maybe we have a chat with Mrs. Anderson.
I want to visit the Kahala hotel (thanks again) and Pearl harbour. I think, that we'll walk Diamond head and be on the North Shore as well.
Besides of the tidal pool, where is the nicest beach on Oahu?
We are starting the trip in San Francisco (2 nights) and after returning from Oaho, we'll do L.A and go further to Las Vegas. Maybe Grand Canyon, I'd like to visit Zion Natl Park and "The Wave".

Sounds like a good trip..As far as best beaches, try Bellows or Lanikai.
Check Waydes World site,I remember seeing his videos about two years ago on youtube on both beaches.
I pulled them from youtube for you.

If you're staying in Waikiki, the beaches are nice but can get crowded.Your best bet is Queens Surf Beach across from the park. There is a
rental place just pasted the pier for boards, chairs and whatever.
The whales are just starting to arrive now so you may want to think about that.

My wife, son and I also discovered Sharks Cove on the North Shore.

The beach isn't the fanciest but if you are into snorkeling it is top notch and FREE! When we were there the waves were cascading over the lava rocks on the perimeter making it look like waterfalls around you........

Thanks guys.
These beaches look so much nicer than Waikiki!
I am searching hotels at hotwire.com. Is there any region, that you can recommend (we don't have to stay in Waikiki necessarily)?
Waikiki Marina area sounds tempting.

Sam, one more question:
Can we go the estate by bus? How about the other nice beaches?
From my last stay in San Francisco, I know, that a rental car can sometimes be more a burden (parking in Waikiki), but I guess, the good public transportation on the island ends, when you are leaving Waikiki, correct?

No problem Bondtoys - I went there by bus. Catch the number 22 bus from Waikiki to Sea Life Park. From Sea Life Park catch the number 57 bus - drives right past the estate less than 5 mins after you leave Sea Life Park.
There's a stop at Waiminalo Beach Park where you get off and head around the beach to the estate. No 57 can then take you back the way you came to Sea Life, or if you have a spare hour, you can jump back on in the same northerly direction and take the longer route back to Waikiki and see more of the local areas of Oahu on your way back.

Good job steveadl,
I knew it could be done but I didn't know the particulars. Here is a link to TheBus.

You mentioned a rental car.I've always used Budget.it's convenient..street level at the Hyatt. You can get a small Chevy for 57 a day plus gas and whatever you do for insurance.Pick it up at 7 am and drop at 9:45 pm and save the hotel parking charges.
