Alright, as I've been trawling eBay last couple weeks for Magnum memorabilia, thought I'd post some of the stuff I find interesting...

Anyone remember those famous nut dishes used in so many episodes of our favourite show?

Was considering buying this 'original crew tshirt.' http://cgi.ebay.com/MAGNUM-P-I-SWEATSHI ... 3f0728940b

However it seems odd they don't have a photo of the whole shirt, only a close up. I then came across this one ( http://cgi.ebay.com/MAGNUM-P-I-SWEATSHI ... 3f0656bd30 ) and another one which look a lot less authentic. So assume they're all just reprints and haven't seen them here on JJ's page, so doubtful they were ever real to begin with.

Oh well, the elusive original pink tshirt may come up for grabs one day. :)

I bought 2 of these sweatshirts from this seller. They are very nice, a little on the small side for a medium but great for any collector.

I don't have a picture but recently I purchased a faux coral choker/necklace on ebay, that was part of the "Magnum, p.i." wardrobe department! I have a COA to go with it.

Whether or not Tom Selleck, or one of the other main stars, ever wore it on an episode or two...don't know or remember? It may have been used by guest-stars or something, or it could have been part of the wardrobe dept but ultimately never used.

I'm going through the whole show again right now, so I'm trying to look for it. But, it's been a few years since I've watched the show so sometimes I get so engrossed in the episode again that I forget to look for the necklace! But, I've worn it a few times with some of my Hawaiian shirts. It's pretty cool...and no matter how small or unimportant it may seem, it's still awesome to have some piece of official show memoribalia! :D

^ ^ ummmmmmmmm have you seen how many 'screen used props' from Magnum PI are listed on eBay (or lots of other shows for that matter)? Don't want to put a downer on it for you, but there are hundreds all from the same seller(s) and the most obscure items eg. cigar dish, reading glasses, candle holders etc etc ad nauseum.

Unless technically they were in the far background out of focus of the camera, I seriously doubt the authenticity of these items.

Just saying...

Ummm..."technically" or otherwise if any of these items are seen in an episode then I guess I would give some sort of credit to their authenticity.

However, I realize that a lot of these ebay items are from the same sellers. However, they may have picked up a lot of "stuff" from all kinds of places--such as studios getting rid of a bunch of old "junk" or something. Some of these items may never have actually been used...but were given to the prop and/or wardrobe dept of the shows to be used if wanted/needed.

Any so-called "authentic" item from any show/movie is, in reality, questionable--even with a COA. Anyone can create a COA to go with something. My Hawaiian necklace may never have been actually used by an actor in the show...and sat in some "Magnum" wardrobe trailer for 8 seasons. Or maybe a guest-star or two wore it in an episode or two...but it's really not that noticable. Or, maybe it's fake all together!

Either way, I love Hawaiian/beach/tropical clothing and items...so the necklace goes well with most of my shirts. The idea that it supposedly was in some way part of "Magnum, p.i." makes it that much cooler to me. It also was not that expensive...if it had been hundreds of dollars or more I would not have bought it--"authentic" or otherwise.

Any photos MaiTai? Maybe someone's spotted it in an episode.

Ya know, I went back to my ebay account and tried to copy the pic and/or the properties of it, so I coud post a picture here...but it wouldn't let me! :? I'm not that computer savy...so maybe there's another way?

The certificate of authenticity (COA) states: This vintage faux coral necklace was part of the "costume collection" inventory and was issued to the set of "Magnum, P.I." for use by cast members. To me that means it was part of the wardrobe dept, but possibly may have never actually been used or worn. If it was worn at all, I would guess it was probably only in an episode or 2 and by guest-stars. But, you never know! The next episode I watch, Tom Selleck could pop out wearing it!

The date on the COA is from 10 years ago...May of 2001. If it is "real" then I would guess this person had accuired a lot of old room props and costume/wardrobe pieces from several shows/movies years ago, and is now selling them off. They're not "famous" pieces (such as an actual Magnum Jungle Bird Shirt used on the show) so they're not that expensive. Again, I figure many of these pieces were issued to the show to be used if needed or wanted...but ultimately may not have been used much, if at all.

There are several ways, but the easiest would be to use the "Snipping Tool" in Windows Vista or Windows 7. If you have XP, you can download a free program called Greenshot, which does the same thing. Basically, you can highlight anything on your screen and it will magically turn into a photo you can save.

Thanks for the tips! :) Unfortunately I do have an old XP laptop so the "Snipping Tool" isn't included. More unfortunately is the fact that it's an old work laptop and downloading programs is blocked by my employer. :? I've been meaning to get another laptop of my own (as my old one "died" about a year and a half ago) but I can't afford it right now. :( I'll see what I can do though...I might be able to use a digital camera and take pics, then get them on the computer--then here.
