Magnum Mania!

I know why Magnum left the service, but why didn't he go home to VA? Why go to Hawaii of all places, and actually have the luck of having 2 close friends follow you there. Please note that I haven't seen beyond season 4 at this point, so no spoilers please. The only reason I know he's from VA at all is from scouting the magnum mania on location web page.

I always assumed that whilst in his last post with Naval Intelligence he was stationed in Hawaii (referred to in a few episodes), so when he resigned his post, he chose to stay there. Other contributing factors would be because his friends were there as well and he already had a life there, plus he was given the opportunity of living on his friend Robin's estate. Also throughout the episodes, his love for Hawaii or 'paradise' as he often refers to it is very clear.
