I wondered about this as well? I would have to dig thru some episodes to see if the glasses look like a match. How often did we even see Higgins with glasses - cetainly not enought to make it an iconic prop from the show. Even if it was authentic it seems like too much money. I am curious as to what kind of COA will come with it, I doubt it is anything from CBS/Universal Studios - I tend to lean towards something the seller prints off on his computer.

In looking at the sellers feedback I see there are some troubling comments (low percentage but enought to make you think). Also I never like to see the links to previously sold items marked as private. Note that the sellers terms are "all sales final" with no refunds/excahanges. Also not a good sign if you have nothing to hide.

If your interested you might want to hurry while the glasses are marked down from $500 to $300.......LOL

I call BS !
Never saw Higgins wear glasses like these. He wore reading glasses with a dark (I think black) plastic rim. That was consistant through out the series.

Here is a pic from the Magnum Mania Lists page. The ebay glasses certainly dont match the ones Higgins has on here. It is possible that he wore another style at some point in the show, but I think it is BS too.

I find it amazing that people can be so unscrupulous.

I sent the seller a message and asked for details on the COA and who issued it, as well as questioned if they knew what episode(s) the glasses were used in, and pointed out that the glasses he is selling do no look like any Higgins glasses I remember seeing. Here is the one-line email I recieved back:

"Thanks for your email. This is a pair of glasses used on the show. Thanks, The Super General Store."

I reported the lisitng to ebay.

One would think that if you had a certificate of authenticity, maybe you would know how to spell "Higgins". Looks a little suspect to me. :?

Looks like a dodgy pr!ck to me, why can't eBay pull items like this pretty quickly? Surely this supposed Certificate of Authenticity would be obvious to spot as fake, plus why wouldn't he have a photo of the certificate? No doubt it's a COA from 'supergeneralstore' confirming the crap they're trying to pass of is real! "Oh yes, I can confirm what you bought from me for $400 is real, honest."

aloha

My Father worked on this show and he said that he doesn't remember Higgins wearing those clear frameless reading glasses on the ebay site. The red white and blue lei is suspect too. Not only is Higgins spelled wrong, the seller says that the eye glasses are from the Wardrobe Dept.

Eye glasses and sun glasses are always considered Actors Props!

I would vote this seller of this Used prop....UN-Real !!!

COAs can be made on any computer with a decent printer. Most aren't worth the paper they're written on.
The only "MPI Prop" I would ever bid on is one that I recognized from the show. Sellers trying to sell items like this piece of crap are offensive not only to the Ebay community, but to MPI fans the world over. I reported this item as well, I urge you all to do the same.

The glasses listing says it sold for $400. Good to see eBay is so vigilant on their buyer protection considering the numerous reports that were submitted on the item!
