Random find: Magnum filming pics

#1 Post by PhatCat »

So I was digging around on facebook and stumble upon friends of friends. I randomly check out the guy's photo albums and his "magnum" license plate pic peaks my interest.

Check these out:

How awesome is that?

Here's a sample:

Cool! How can you tell? What should I be looking for to clue me in?

BTW, James, should someone be saving these and keeping them somewhere? Although is there copywrite issues we have to worry about?

Is Thomas wearing cowboy boots in that photo? I'm going to have to review the episode to see if he's wearing them in the episode.

One of my long-time theories has just been confirmed. The large two tone gray truck in this photo:

was indeed a show production vehicle. It appears in "From Moscow To Maui" as the truck hauling the coffins, again in "Almost Home" when The guys are following the stolen Ferrari. It also appears in other episodes. I always suspecetd it was a show production vehicle, this photo confirms it.

I've seen it in many episodes. Sometimes it's prominently shown, other times you just catch a glimpse of it. It looks in the photo like it might actually have been used to haul the Ferrari.

That's what I first thought but it looks like there are permanent shelves in the back.I'm thinking it contained the camera mounts for the Ferrari.

Fantastic! Wow, the filming of J Digger Doyle!

I completely missed Erin Gray in that photo the first time I went through them.

I wonder how this guy was just randomly travelling through Hawaii and happened upon a TV show taping.

I wish I knew the guy myself but he's a friend of a friend. He has some connection to the local music scene here in the Twin Cities.

You're right Sam, Upon further investigation, i.e a blow-up of the photo it's obvious the Ferrari would never have fit in there. I was thinking if they had prepped the car at the studio they may have wanted to haul it to location in a closed truck to avoid messing up the set-up, but they most likely did all that at the location.

Very, very cool pics. I'm sure you could just send the guy a message. He probably wouldn't mind them being used. After all, it's not like James is making a profit from this site! He'd probably be happy with note acknowledging his contribution.
