No it's not the boys' love of strip joints or hanging at the Snow Palace.

It's this type of propaganda in 'From Moscow to Maui' that might have had the Russians launching an all out real offensive. This scene is a security risk. This says, 'Look at the capability of the front line US service man. You can take him with a peashooter.' I've already had a quasi-rant in the season 2 section. I actually like the episode BTW.

For rationale, all I can think is that Supergeek is a relative of a producer or something. I know it's a kinder, gentler world out there today, but when I was briefly in the army in 1979, a guy with this bearing and deportment would have taken some serious beatings. He'd change real fast or quit.

Actually Higgy_Baby if you look closer at the picture at the top of the buttstock and notice the yellow dot on the M-16s that the soldiers have..that is the very exclusive but yet clumsy group called the "yellow fellows"..they are super nerdy, cowardly and aren't very professional just to throw off the enemy and when the enemy comes out from hiding and put down their guards....Special Ops come in and WHAMO!!!!

Great...now they'll have to come up with another plan! What's funny is that back in the day alot of shows can be seen having a firearm of some type marked with those yellow spots to indentify that they are blank fired weapons. Kind of how the military mark the magazines different colors with the blanks they use in mock combat.

Having a few bumbling troops seemed to be a staple in '80s action TV shows, which doesn't bug me at all. I think it just lightens the tone of the scene - probably on purpose.

Unless it is something like Special Ops every unit is going to have a screw up or two in it. I guess you could say this guys was his unit's Private Pyle.
