The VMO2 - Da Nang hat

Hi guys!
Here it is a question for you Magnumaniacs.
I've done some surfing around the Net but it seems that the most iconic Magnum hat (at least to me) is available only at uswings.com.
Is it good? I mean, is it a good replica (right color, right yellow tone on the patch, etc...)?
Did I miss some place else where it is available too?

Not sure about Us Wings, but type in ROCKNROBBIE on you search engine and go to his site, his are exact copies of the patches in the latter seasons.If you look at the patches there are a few slight varations over the years, like alot of other things on the show.Good Luck.

i bought one of the us wings caps and am very satisfied with it. it is a little "modern," in that it is kind of relaxed...and it faded a little but i like it fine and the embroidery is great.

I seem to have some diplay issues on RockNRobbie page.
The patches are very close (the smaller one looks better to me, the other is too big and looking at the photo its color is orange-like).
I'm not too sure about the cap, the picture is too small.
I got to freeze a frame on some episode where I can see it well.

I know he charges a lot for some of his stuff so you may want to get an idea of the hat there and find it elsewhere.

Thanks for the info IKWYT, but as I said the only other place I found it is US Wings, which would be fine to me.
Only thing is that the S&H on international orders is pretty heavy (like 4 times the cost of the hat itself).
I have seen some VMO-2 patches on ebay but they didn't look right to me.
Do you have any place to suggest?

Have you actually ordered stuff from him? To be honest, the poor quality of the site (or page) and the spelling mistakes throughout make me pretty wary.

I wish I knew some option for you as far as shipping goes. I'm not sure if you have someone in the states that could have it shipped to their residence and then send it to you. I don't even know if that would be cheaper, but if it is that could be an option.

I don't know if anyone else has ever experienced this or not, but I have become uncomfortable wearing any type of military hat. Let me explain: although I have never served in the military, I have been and always will be a supporter of our armed forces. To that effect I have purchased and worn over the years, a couple of military-related hats. One is for the USS Enterprise and another is a US Cavalry baseball cap (black with crossed swords, with "US Cavalry").
When wearing them, I would be approached by people asking, "Were you on the Enterprise?", or "My brother is in the AirCav too!" Then I would awkwardly have to explain that no, I never served, I just like the hat! My oldest son wears a tattered USMC hat and got berated by a state trooper during a traffic stop for wearing a Marines hat without being one (although he is in the process of getting into USMA OCS). Just one of my hang-ups.

Yes, I have ordered both a patch (yes order the smaller one as it is screen accurate) and I have ordered a ring from him as well, that was poured from a mold used from Universal for the series. He is a big Magnum PI fan and is great on his emails. I only bought the patch as I wanted as screen accurate as possible and went with a navy blue fitted hat off ebay.He also has the gray US Navy shirt Magnum wears and it's also screen accurate, but it's not listed on his site.Email him,trust me you won't be sorry.

IKWYT, I don't know if that would be cheaper but I am almost sure it would. I know someone living in the US, but I don't know if he is available to do that. I have to investigate.

Frodoleader, your post isn't long, it is very intersting.
But these hats you are talking about are available to the general public?
I mean, are they sold to non-military people?
Are you breaking some rule or law wearing them?
Because if you're not I don't see what is wrong with it.
One can wear a hat (or whatever) just because is a supporter, or even just because likes that hat.
Do I have to be an astronaut to wear a NASA hat? I don't think so.
It's a different thing, I know, but I have a Redskins hat that I wear just because I like it.
Here in Italy I'm pretty sure that nobody would know what is that VMO2 stuff and where it comes from, maybe just some MPI hard-core fan.
I like that hat and I like the fact that only MPI fans would recognize it.

Sorry but my digital camera is no more.But judging by the patch, Robbie's lettering is almost exact and the eagle is a tad differnent.But it looks good to me.
