TC's Chopper on eBay

I noticed this morning a listing on eBay for the Revell model of TC's Chopper in a sealed box. Listing starts at $14.99 (I think) with a "Buy It Now" of $30 + shipping. I think the $30 is a steal as these don't come up all that often, certrainly not as often as the Ferrari.

If you want one for your collection I think that this is a fair price. I've seen them go for around $50!

note: search under "magnum pi" with no periods in "pi" and it will show up!

For a second I was thinking . . . nah, forget it.

Wow! That sold quickly! I hope it went to someone in the Forum. I just can't take mine out of the sealed box but it is on display on the "Magnum/Hawaii Shrine."

I took mine out of the box so Larry could put it together for me (I figured he was probably better with models than I am). NOT! He broke several pieces, so now I have a rather useless and worthless jumble of plastic pieces . . . . .

golfmobile.......not worthless! Spend a rainy day putting it together as best you can. You need one to display and one in the box, unopened and shrink wrapped, a collectible. I'd bet you could sell yours on eBay just as it is. I have mine on display, still shrink wrapped. I agonized over whether or not to open the box but decided....nah! I'd probably break a piece, too!
The absolutely toughest one to find is TC's VW van. The last one I saw on eBay went for $150!! Insane!

Too bad they don't have any second issues of these. Maybe one good thing that could come from a movie would be some more Magnum "toys" hitting the stores!

As an avid modeler I've had this kit, and attempted to build it. It is not a Hughes 500D, but an early military Cayuse. There are signifigant differences between the helo in the kit and TC's. The model in the kit has a Y tail, and the rear door windows are the half window type. I also believe if memory serves, it has a 4 bladed rotor instead of 5.
For accuracy you'd be better off buying a true 500D model off Ebay and doing the paint job yourself. If you're buying this kit as memorabilia, it's best left unopened in the box.

Just a side note to TC's chopper. I only discovered this yesterday. The lower half of the T tail is actually a semi gloss black. There is a small bit of brown just to the rear and below the yellow stripe, but no brown on the lower half of the tail. I noticed this some time ago on N4943T used in late seasons, but yesterday I was watching early seasons, and N1095A also has the black lower half. You can clearly see this in "Billy Joe Bob" , Texas Lightning" and "Tropical Madness"

Wow, you are definitely a world class investgator! TM would have been impressed. Mine is in a shrink wrapped box on my "Hawaii stuff" table.
There is a pic of a very large 500D wooden model with the proper paint job in the forum. Now, that is the one I'd like to have on display. Is that yours?

It's not mine, although I'd like to see it. Do you have a link?

By the way, N58243 had the black lower tail too. I've seen the opening a million times, and never noticed this. Maybe I'm not such a world class Private investigator

Holy $#@! I just noticed this too! In the opening when the chopper does it's dive, the negative is reversed. The tail rotor is on the wrong side.

I found it on the forum, somewhere in the 26 or so pages of topics. It is in there, at least I am pretty sure. I ran across it a few weeks ago when I was reading some old posts.
