Magnum Mania!

Hi, as a newbie here and a huge Magnum PI fan I´d like to thank you so much for your great site, offering a wealth of info for our coming visit to Oahu, where we want to take a look at the locations of our alltime ever fave seires Magnum.

Wouldnt be great if there would be Magnum PI tours offered on Oahu?!

In case you missed it, be sure to check out the Rubber Chicken's Guide to Magnum P.I. Locations page, which has a download link for a Google Earth KML file. With it, you can view all sorts of filming locations via Google Earth (free), each with tons of info. The great rubber chicken created it. Word on the street has it that another version is coming out soon with dozens of new entries.

Yes, Ullie!! It would be WONDERFUL if there were Magnum PI tours on Oahu...especially if the tour included lodging at "Robin's Nest"!! I can't afford to make the trip yet. Can't wait to hear about yours!

Word on the street has been wrong before James, I should know, hehe. But I'm close, there's a place that I've been working on on and off for months now, and I'm becoming disgusted with myself. I've completed a number of locations in the meantime, but that one placemark has prevented me from putting out a new version. I'm knuckling down though, worked some hours on it today and I'm hoping to be done in a few days.

Anyway, the good thing is there will be many more new placemarks in this coming release than there have been in previous releases. Some interesting places too, a few with quite a history to say the very least.

I'm looking forward to that! I just joined because I'm going to Oahu in Feb/March and was looking for Magnum locations and stumbled apon your awsome site!

To be clear, it's James' awesome site, and the rubber chicken guide is my creation. Be sure to check out James' On Location list also, as my guide is still missing a few commonly used locations. I think a few of the locations of the King Kamehameha Club haven't been marked yet, for example. Between the list and guide the location info is reasonably complete.

It looks like my estimate of a few days is wrong again. But, I've been working for hours every day on this insanely detailed location placemark, and I'm making very good headway. The more I work on it, the more I realize how much I still have to do. But it won't be long now...

That's great news RC! Can't wait to see all the new locations you've added, especially this "insanely detailed location placemark"! I'm filled with excitement just thinking about what it could be.

Out of the blue an old highschool friend who I havn't seen in years calls me up on a friday nite in January and says: "Still wanna go to Hawaii?" I say sure expecting some kinda punchline to follow... he then goes on to tell me that he is a Vp of a company thet is going under and he has the Corporate credit cad full of Air Miles and he intends to use them all!!!

We made all the arrangements online and I flew out of Charlottetown that monday morning on my way to meet up with him in Toronto and then fly direct to California... we had to run to catch the plane there to Honolulu!!

It was an awsome 2 week vacation on Oahu I visited as may Magnum pi Locations as I could in the Rent-A-Jeep. I can't wait to go back... I wonder if there is anyway for a Canadian to move there to live and work...

Anyway, to your question on Canucks living in paradise, let's try to rationalize a Green Card. First, the Hawaiian Kings never relinquished their Kingdom to the US. Second, at the time the US annexed the place, Britain also had a strong local presense in Hawaii. The Union Jack still flies in the upper corner of the Hawaiian State flag. The Dominion of Canada is part of the Empire. Therefore CANADIANS have as much right to paradise as AMERICANS.

If this rationalization fails, let's just take over like we already did in Florida.

I like the way you think, however I remember a British friend of mine got married just so he could get work as a boat boy in Hawaii a few year back... plus I also remember an episode of MPI where Higgins Visa was revoked after he quit his job at Robin's Nest to become Chancellor of a military regime. What was the name of that episode?

I met some Canadian teachers living on Oahu when I was there a few years ago. They seemed to imply moving there was easy. They were working with underprivileged kids on the west coast of Oahu - get's pretty sketchy on that part of the island from what I hear.

I think moving there would be easy, getting a visa to work would be the tricky part.
