I think this has been addressed before, but I can't seem to find it. But in "Transitions" there is a cat lover's award or something like that in the background...was this given to him in an episode?

He receives the award from the "Cat Admirers Society" for saving a drowning cat in the season 6 episode. Here is an audio clip of his acceptance speech:
