OH MY GOD!

As you know, I'm new and have been jumping around...reading all of the posts and the articles. I'm getting a bit fuzzy about where I saw what so there's probably a more appropriate place to post this message but I can't remember where it is!

Has anyone seen Mamma Mia? It's the movie version of a play...stars Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep. And is, incidently, another reason why Pierce Brosnan was included in the discussion about staying power that I read...somewhere. :)

Anyway...Meryl Streep's daughter is getting married. She doesn't know who her father is....it's always been just her and her mother. But she's rummaging around in some old stuff and finds her mother's old diary in which she names three men that she, um, "spent time with" before the daughter was born. In the first scenes, the daughter is telling her bridesmaids that she's contacted her father and invited him to the wedding. But then when she explains about the three men in her mother's life, the bridesmaids don't understand which of them she's invited. When they "get it" that she's invited all three, they say...in unison...OH MY GOD!

Yes, Higgins...and John Hillerman...have really become a part of our cultural conversation! Just think. Someday, someone will say OH MY GOD and some young whippersnapper will wonder where that expression ever came from and us old fogeys will KNOW!!

PS - There's a great, resonant OH MY GOD in Rembrandt's Girl when the vault doors close Higgins between them. Another discussion that I remember reading...somewhere.

Whenever I get a ridiculous request from work, I have a soundbite from a Higgins "OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (thanks James!) that I'll forward onto my team.

"OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" is also an oldie but goodie.

Oh Higgy Baby, how you resonate with time!
