I should mention that I read the Bowdler books back in the 80s when they came out ... I was following Magnum then and, being still at school, obviously did not have the means to have this ring done properly. Do I have to mention that replicas were not as widely and readily available as they are today, and that the www. and its unlimited market opportunities also did not exist.
Impossible to imagine today - but there was NO WAY you'd get, say, a red parrot shirt - you'd have to make do with whatever tacky tourist design your local store would consider close enough to give it the term 'Hawaiian' and look accordingly. (Terrible photos I have from those times... :?)
Anyways, back in those days of yore, I got myself a cheap ring with some black glass instead of the onyx, and being a hobby toy soldier uniform painter, I applied the croix myself, using gold bronze and a very fine brush. Needless to say, my family slagged me off for that, the color wore off ever so often, and eventually even the cheap metal lost its fake gold coating... don't know when or how that piece of personal memorabilia got lost on the junk heap of history.

I am quite happy with it myself, too.

I'm also looking at getting the team ring done by my jeweller.

Since you've now had it for some time, is there anything else you can add?

I'm just going to show my jeweler a few screenshots from the show and some other shots from A Lighter Side plus the info you provided.

I don't own a team ring, but I did have a silver cross made that shares its likeness...

Thanks. I thought Orthodox crosses had a third, slightly tilted bar at the bottom? Either way, I sure don't get many people questioning its origin. I had it made this way to blend in a bit more and be unique; however, I now find myself wishing I had made it exactly like Michelle's pendant.

You are right, there is a tilted third bar representing (with an attempt at 3D perspective, hence tilted) the rest for Christ's feet.

... apart from that, nothing beats an individual custom made unique piece of jewelry with a history ;) - and yours is a fine work of art!

Awesome photo.

Thank you - like I said, not really a problem using snapseed, but quite effective ;)
