Yes. That's why it's a flub. The father is also shown wearing the Rolex in the water-treading scene, which I now believe was supposed to take place on July 4, 1950 (one year before his father's funeral). As you pointed out, that watch didn't exist then, which would make it a shocking flub, as you have also pointed out.
