It's funny you mentioned that Coops, as "CM" mentioned that, as well. He/she says that the majority of MPI props stuff he/she has seen on eBay are fake, including the studio tags. Food for thought.
Again, until I see some more pics, and hopefully a sample DVD, I'm proceeding with caution!

Higgins: It's not a scratch! It's a bloody gouge!
What's also funny about that is the auctions were coming from the studio itself. Or at least I perceived that to be the situation. Let's just hope it's all authentic!James J. Now, seems to me there was a thread I started about which prop would we all want...

Coops, there was actually a second scenario that "CM" elaborated on which I didn't mention. The "studio" auctions (the ones with the official COA's) are in fact often selling duplicates and backups, not the original items used on the set. The original items are often "scooped up" by crew members and other people associated with the show. I'm sure it's probably not the case for every item, for every studio. A lot of it would depend on the item in question, I suppose.
In any event, the recent development is this - "CM" is going to be sending me a "sample" DVD of some of the clips (a few dailies, a few Cast & Crew "home movies", and some production stills). This would surely decide the authenticity question. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Regarding the film transfer, here is some more information - "The show was filmed and cut on 35mm film, but because it was not practical to send 35mm to Hawaii everyday for dailies, the film was transfered on a telecine at the studio and video tapes were sent for Tom and Producers to view. These are the tapes that were left behind when the show ended."
Apparently, the "suits" at Universal had a real hands off approach to the show and the stuff that was used. The tight-knit Oahu Crew pretty much ran the whole the show from top to bottom.
"CM" still has to go through the remaining storage and transfer the tapes. Hopefully it won't be too long, but there is no hard set time frame. Once I get it, and verify, you guys should be able to correspond with him/her about some of the other stuff.
Thanks

JAMES!
Wow I've been away from the site for a few weeks, what a development!
As you know I am insanely curious about the stage set and what the actual guesthouse looked like inside. I know you want to protect CM, but would you be willing to ask if he could answer my questions, with you as the go between to protect his identity? Warn him I have lots of questions and am curious about this in detail.
Feel free to PM me for further discussion.
If he had any photos of the stage set and guest house I would be interested in negotiating a deal--maybe some of this stuff shows up in his dailies or behind the scenes videos.
I am just numb with excitment!!
