In "The Last Page", TM and the other guy were on the same mission in Vietnam in 1971.

In "Did You See the Sun Rise" TM and TC allude to 1968 being the year they spent three months as POWs.

In "Missing in Action", TM says he left for Vietnam on July 15, 1967.

In "All for One", TM, TC, and Rick say they were in Vietnam together for Christmas of 1969.

Hope that helps!

It is strongly implied that Joey is the son of Katherine and Frank. Based on the home movies seen in "Going Home", Magnum appears to be about 7 or 8 years older than Joey....

Image

(Magnum appears to be 12 or 13, Joey 4)

Magnum was five when his dad died in 1951, so the home movie would be dated around 1958 or 1959. Therefore, Katherine and Frank must have been together since at least 1953. This also means that Joey would have been around 17 years old in 1970. We know Joey went through the Naval Academy because of this shot...

Image

U.S. Naval Academy training is four years, so he would have been 21 at a minimum in 1974. The Paris Peace Accords were in 1973 and last personel left in April of 1975. He must not have been there for very long before he was killed.

Hey James/all,

I was of the impression that this was a shot of Magnum going off, not necessarily Joey.

1) Kind of because it looks more like Magnum than Joey (Blonde vs. Brunette).

But, I could be wrong.....

Also thought that TSM is the one in uniform. There was never talk of Joey attending the USNA. I assumed he left home as soon as he could, right after high school, to escape from (and prove himself) to Frank.

Here are the screen caps of Joey's name on the wall and Magnum's position as he touches the name:

Why wouldn't they just use Selleck for the brief flashback scene? It wouldn't be that hard to make him look "Academy-ish" in age. Plus, they used him in all the other flashbacks. It would have been a great opportunity to get him in a shot with his real life dad! For these reasons, I always assumed it was Joey. :?

Interesting where TM is standing at the wall. As I recall the names are in chronological order from left to right, the right being those who were killed toward the end of the war.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the service academies allowed facial hair in the '60's. It may still be against the rules. TM would have had to shave to get the right shot.

Someone, with a better sense of all things military, may know for sure.
