Golf, you are using the wrong URL for direct linking images in forums. You need to remove the 'Action Directive' (?action=view&current) in your URL string. So, using your first example, the correct URL would be http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i42/g ... le/TC1.jpg which produces this:

Image

If you'll notice at the bottom right of the Photobucket image page, you'll see a 'IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards' section which provides the correct URL.

Cool pics, by the way! I like it! :D

Robin's Nest in Microsoft Flight Simulator

#17 Post by golfmobile »

Did a new video tonight. You can easily see the flaws in my scenery creation, but I'm working on it, okay? In the meantime, if you want to view my MSFS video, it's here:

http://rides.webshots.com/video/3033180 ... 1870UAmXRu

I start by flying past Honolulu, zoom around Diamond Head (but in the wrong direction), then buzz Robin's Nest a few times, then go land on the pier (to which I haven't added scenery objects yet -- which is good, because I didn't come anywhere close to landing on the helipad there! I'm just lucky if I can LAND without crashing!).

I had fun doing it. This is why I got MSFS in the first place (except for learning to fly a real helicopter so I could emulate TC in Hawaii).

Hah, that's a fun video clip. I love the beginning where you zoom around the rocky coastline like the clip from the opening title sequence. The building objects you used for the main house and guesthouse are not too bad, actually. Pretty cool, man.

One weird thing I noticed was at the end of the video, where you get a semi-closeup shot of T.C. in the cockpit and he is sitting on the right side of the chopper. He should be on the left side. And in the earlier screenshots that I posted, he's on the left side! Weird. :?

James,

Thanks for the kind words on my Robin's Nest. I was limited to the buildings available in EZ Scenery and some other add-ons scenery enhancements. Never found a tennis court though.

Yes, I noticed the TC on the right side of the cockpit. That was rather why I included that close-up shot. Odd that someone would go to so much trouble as to create the a/c and the scenery, etc., etc., and STILL put TC in the wrong seat! But we work with the materials we have at hand.

I've been re-watching Magnum on Sleuth lately and have lots of thoughts about what I've been observing. But I'll make a new post for those thoughts.

So, there must be more than one "T.C.'s Chopper (w/ T.C.)" in MS Flight Simulator then?

There ARE two Island Hoppers choppers available for MSFS 2004. The one with TC in the wrong seat is the one that comes with the scenery I couldn't use, but I could use that heli to fly around my scenery. However, the other one has the pilot in the left seat -- he's just not TC. E.g.:

So . . . which should I fly?

If it was me, I'd go with the chopper with the correct pilot placement in the cockpit.

Just out of curiosity, how does MS Flight Simulator handle the crash animations? Do you actually see a crash animation? If so, do they have separate ones for all of the stock planes that come with the game?

TC's Helicopters

#23 Post by golfmobile »

Actually, there are three (3) Island Hoppers choppers that you can use in MSFS 2004; however, one of them is simply a repaint of the OH6A that is called "Table Rock Tours" -- I guess because the guy who did the repaint of this chopper didn't have permission to use the Magnum/TC/Island Hoppers name. Anyway, I made a video for ya -- in the first part of the video I'm flying the Table Rock heli so you can see it is the chopper with the "V" tail construction instead of the "T" (I think someone did an analysis of when in the series the two different versions were used, but I don't remember the chronology right now).

I have added some buildings to TC's pier, though I don't have a wooden "bridge" to be the pier itself yet. And I added a helipad that I can't hit 1 time out of 10 tries. I can lift off -- and in the third portion you'll see I held a hover for about 10 seconds -- I just can't land accurately. But I did some good crashes for you to view how they show up in MSFS 2004 (I think they look about the same in FSX). Check out the video here:

I'm going to try to upload this to youtube also, because on the above webshots site, it looks pretty fuzzy. But I don't know if youtube will be any better . . . . .

Here's the youtube link if the above is too fuzzy:

But I don't see that it's any better.

Revell chopper

#26 Post by golfmobile »

I'd love to get that -- BUT is the value of it that it has not been "built"? Once you've "created" it, you no longer have the collectible MIB.

What a dilemma!

Wow, how right you are golfmobile....never thought of it that way. Perhaps this one could be bought and saved in it's collectible state, and when another one comes up for auction (as they occasionally do) buy that one and build it! Just a thought!

Revell TC chopper

#28 Post by golfmobile »

SL,

You are right too! What is needed is one of EACH!! Just what we need to do -- find MORE Magnum things to spend more on! :P

I thought it was pretty cool when I got the little Hot Wheels TC chopper. But, as usual, I "destroyed" its value by taking it out of the packaging. I'd rather have it as a Christmas ornament! (my picture of which I CANNOT find right now -- will post it if I ever find it!).

But now I'm off to haunt eBay for TWO Revell models -- one to assemble and one to keep MIB!

:D

Well, golfmobile, I don't think it's possible to spend too much money on Magnum stuff. On eBay, most are priced rather reasonably if you ask me. As compared to say.......sports memorabilia. Or Air Jordan Sneakers. I recently sold a pair of Air Jordans for over $600! Yikes! Who knew? Certainly not me......like a dork, I started them out at 99 cents!

Strange coincidence, I was wandering around GlobalSecurity.org and saw on this page that North Korea supposedly has 60 Hughes MD-500 helicopters - the military version of the Hughes 500D - which makes it their main attack helicopter.

North Korea isn't the place I imagine when thinking of TC's chopper. I'd be curious to know where they bought them.
