Ring should be ready tomorrow. He just came in to show me the progress of the ring - all in individual pieces; the gold band, the black stone and the gold cross. They all look great.
He said now he just has to put it all together and polish it up. Anticipation building....
Just got the ring, looks terriffic. Very happy with the finished product, and a great reminder for me of Hawaii. Don't get me wrong, I love the Magnum connection, and obviously that's where the ring originates, but to me it also symbolises my love of Hawaii.
I'll post some pictures next week as he'll bring over the valuation with photos etc and his will be a lot better than anything I can take with my camera.
Also will get the opinion of you guys when you see the pics - the only thing I'm not entirely sure on is because it's a stone instead of the other alternative (sorry don't know the name - but like a black liquid or whatever), the gold didn't come right down to the black, so the gold rim on top is thinner than in other rings I've seen. So going to keep it as is for a while and see how I feel, but if it bothers me, may see if it's possible with the stone to have extra gold put in right to the stone.
hmmmm just got the valuation, but not going to bother posting the photo, too small and unclear. Will bring my camera to work tomorrow and take a couple snaps as best I can....
Looking good what is it made of? looks to have a red tint to it, may just be the photo though, did you say it has a stone with the cross applied?
Thank you for the photo.
Robbie
Robbie, it's 9ct yellow gold. No red in it, just the photo and perhaps lighting. The stone is onyx with cross applied on top. You're right about the size, I wanted the ring to be fairly large, and also I asked him to make it a bit more oval than some of the rings I've seen which have a more rounded shape.
To give you an idea, the ring weighs 18grams and is size T. Just took a few snaps of it on my finger and added to album:
I really need to learn how to take better photos, my fingers are short but not that short! Damn angles! lol
I used photo bucket. Create a free account, upload a photo from your computer, then in your photobucket account it will give you an image link for each photo you want to link to somewhere on the web that will display that photo (or if you prefer a URL which will show people where they can go to look at the photo instead of it having appear on the actual page like above).
