The "Diver Down" wallet.

#1 Post by N1095A »

For a couple of years I've wanted to buy a MPI style diver down wallet. Primarily because of my love for the show, but also because I'm a certified NAUI diver. Problem is, my wife got me a beautiful Italian leather wallet for my birthday a few years back, and not only do I like it a lot, but I was kind of obligated to carry it because she bought it for me. Today she threw a pair of my shorts in the wash with the wallet in the cargo pocket. Aside from ruining the photos and a lot of the cards inside, it is going to dry very hard and brittle. Time to buy a new wallet.

Perfect opportunity to buy one then! There is a shed load of websites that sell them. I've always wanted one too.

I remember the wallet I had back then was a camouflaged velcro wallet. Got that one from my oldest brother that was in the army. I thought it was pretty cool. Definitely very "80's" though.

I think I had a black velcro wallet in the 80's. Go for it with the Diver Down wallet!

Come to think of it, I think I had a camo wallet in the 80s too. Hmmm....I know for certain I had an eel skin one though....LOL.

I had a couple of camo ones and a few black ones in the 80's. They last forever, but they do seem cheap compared to nice leather ones.

Watching an episode the other night it looks like TM also has a beige colored one with a black border.

I saw that one also. Mine arrived. I'm less than impressed with it. Not enough card slots, and the ones that are there are a little too small. Oh well.

Yep, sounds about right, that's how I remember them from back then. Also, the plastic "photo holders" in the middle of the wallet always cracked and then fell off after some usage. Why I went back to leather bifold wallets.
