Magnum on Northern Exposure

#1 Post by Danno »

I saw an episode of Northern Exposure last night- the first episode of the second season- Shelly becomes addicted to TV and in one scene is watching Magnum P.I. in what sounds like Japanese?

I think the episode shown is The Kona Winds, but without looking it up I can't be sure.

Anyway, it was pretty funny... :D

Oh, cool! I love NE. Probably my favorite show of the 90s.

Back when A&E used to play Magnum, from around 2000-2002, they also played Northen Exposure.

The A&E website had a Magnum P.I. forum at that time. My handle there was Kwai_Bridge.

There was a guy there who posted as borroughsmvp. He rated all the episodes from 1 to 4 Crosses of Lorraine. The only episodes that he gave 4 crosses to were Did You See The Sunrise, Home From The Sea, Limbo, and L.A.

A&E still has a Magnum PI forum -- which is a little difficult to find. It's at: http://boards.aetv.com/forum.jspa?forumID=18

I haven't seen the Cross of Lorraine ratings, but there are 7 pages of topics, and they only seem to go as far back as early 2005.

Wow, does that bring back memories.........I miss A&E showing Magnum, twice a day. It was thru the A&E message board that I found the Professor of all things Magnum related; David Romas. I got a hard copy of Mike Barnes' episode guide with the Cross of Lorraine ratings, plot synopsis, trivia and flubs. Then came the Yahoo groups site, and finally the most complete site I have ever seen, "Magnum Mania".

I'm collecting the whole NE series on DVD. Shelley's my favourite character because we're from the same town/city, Saskatoon.

But omg has A&E ever gone down the tubes. Did it deliberately switch it's format or did it just run out of money. I miss NE on there and AE's self-produced movies. Now it's so cheap, shallow and pointless, they don't even play Dog The Bounty Hunter or King of Cars, they play shows about meter maids! wth?

I refuse to spend money on cable- it's very expensive in Australia. I'd either never watch it, or become addicted to the History Channel or something...

Just buy DVDs and watch what you want when you want! 8)

Cool you're getting the whole series. After Magnum season 8 comes out, I'll consider starting on Northern Exposure. I do miss the original music though... :(

 Back in the day I had such a crush on Janine Turner. I was disappointed to see her recently on some show or other, and although she still looks good, she went the way of so many women in Hollyweird, and blew her lips up. I hate that look. She was so good looking prior to that.

On a somewhat related note.....The Equalizer TV shows from the 80's with Edward Woodward just came out on DVD this week - first season. Was just watching the pilot, and a Magnum PI reference came up. There is a girl on the show. Her mother asked her to answer the ringing telephone. She of course was watching Magnum PI on the TV. She said she couldn't answer the phone with Tom Magnum was in trouble like this. They showed an up close shot of the TV and some scenes from Magnum. The Equalizer was also on CBS.
Trying to reach my full snail potential.
