I was commenting on the legacy of such segregation, which can linger for generations, and was still evident in Hawaii in the 80’s and in the series. Some argue it still lingers with the higher rates of poverty and lower income jobs of native Hawaiians currently.
IvanTheTerrible and I were discussing latter-season HFO and Magnum in the Five-O topic. In it we essentially agreed that during HFO seasons 10-12, the series began to shift away from Hawaiians and more towards the elites. There were still “Hawaiian”-themed episodes, but those kinds of episodes werent’s as prevalent as they once were. Magnum seemed to pick up where S12 of HFO left off and continued the distancing from Hawaiians.
As for Happy Days, any remaining 1950s nostalgia the series may have offered died with The Rise of Chachi.

I found the finale unsatisfying on many levels.
Re-write.
Same here. Very little in the finale appealed to me. I would jettison the whole stalker sub-plot involving the Linda Lee Ellison character and instead have TM settling down with Alice Cook (Pamela Susan Shoop) at the end. I didn’t take issue with Magnum reenlisting with the Navy. However, with the reemergence of Alice Cook, the series would’ve come full circle.

That would have been a good idea.
Welcome to MM.
Knocking my rubber chicken or my sloppy habits is within the rules, but you're attacking my character. I would like to think you don't mean that.
Definitely would go back and pull those shorts down closer to his hips instead of leaving them on his waist. But, I know. They needed to show his manhood.
Probably would have ditched that pink hoodie with those high pockets. I was around in the 80's and I do not have any recollection of anyone wearing something like that.
