Call me nostalgic but....

#1 Post by Rolie »

…. I'm inclined to watch Magnum Jr just to see the landscape, dogs, car, and especially to hear the theme song once again. I went over to the old magnum alt.tv site and left a post to see if that old system would fire up once again. My old school opinion is if it ain't broke but a little dusty.... give it a buff job and put it back to work. And so for me guys, I'm watching it with the understanding that Magnum Sr was there for this old vet back then and now Magnum Jr is filling in for the Iraqi Vets that are looking for the same respect TM got. I'm so childish I set up my stupid facebook site as Rolie PI and youtube site as Rolie Magnum. Yes, somewhat tilted but I'm just the nostalgic guy I've always been. Go Magnum. Don't look at the dogs...………….

I was indeed a recipient of bags of crap and urine thrown at me when I exited Travis Air Force base Dec. 1972. I stunk all the way home to the Canal Zone. Still have my uniform that I try to get in to on occasion. The same behavior still exists when I go to some stores and ask for a veterans discount.... the same old reply is "Thank you for your military service" with a smirk on their faces. Naw, the vets coming back face the same ordeal amigo... it's foot long phony. The vets of today that serve in the world arena ARE STILL COMING HOME but to a scripted welcome. They hurt just the same inside. Once out of camera view, same o same o. Try to tell that to my young vet son in law that is still trying to fit back in to society. Guy only talks about his experience to me because most that never served will never understand.

Anyway, I'm still living the Magnum Mindset. Like Maria used to say Life is short - Live it well.

Yes sir, still grinding away at the insurance agency, playing music, dreaming, and wearing my shorty shorts, flower shirts, and deckies. Nothing has changed but getting older but that's a good thing and I like it that way. Still in the Magnum state of mind before, during, and after. It's only that the Mag came along that I realized... hey that's the guy I've always been. :magnum:

Keep me posted. Oh yea, lets get the magnum alt.tv newsgroup shaking again like the good old days when it was hot and sometimes nasty.

Peace,

Rolie

I think you're right, Rolie. "Thanks for your service" has become a trite way of not expressing gratitude. My father served a couple of tours in Vietnam. He rarely mentioned it at all but spoke of it occasionally. Something I can't relate to, since I didn't serve, but also something unique in that I don't think anyone who wasn't there could completely fathom.
