Quality of shows on DVD
So I've been rewatching the Magnum shows on DVD again, and what I've been noticing is that the visual quality seems to degrade slightly as the seasons go on. For instance, the first season is nice and sharp with fine grain and good colors, but most of the rest of them are kind of softer. Anyone else notice this?

I notice that scenes are darker on mine starting around season 5. I particularly notice it in wide landscape shots with lots of blue sky. The packaging is a good indicator of the diminished effort that wend into getting them out to the public in later seasons. The season one and two box sets were really cool. Then they just got down to the business of getting them out. The packaging I don't mind, but the image quality is a bit disappointing.
"How fiendishly deceptive of you Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent."

I don't notice any consistent reducing quality- I find the seasons tend to vary in what you get. There's that episode where the colour balance seems totally off and there was no yellow at all? (Was it season 5?)
In a perfect world the entire series would be digitally cleaned, balanced and we'd get a HD or heck- go straight to a (very unlikely) 4K issue of the show.
