'Taping Magnum for the first time'

#1 Post by MagnumILWU »

There might have been a post on this earlier, but it was September 30,1982. It was my birthday, and my girlfriend had my parents, her sister, and a few friends over. We even watched, 'The Shadow Riders', which had premiered just 2 days before, on Tuesday, Sept 28,1982, which I had taped! I had to drive my parents home at about the time Magnum started, so my girlfriend taped the Magnum episode that night, 'Did You See the Sunrise?'. It was the 2 hour season premiere of, Magnum! I taped other episodes around that time, and others through the years! I still have the tapes, and it's nice to have a some of the original broadcasts from CBS. One VHS blank tape at that time could cost $20.00, so you didn't buy a lot of them! Aloha

That's awesome. I'd like to see it. There's something cool about seeing a show complete with the commercials of the time in tact. Brings back all the memories of what you were actually doing, eating, playing with, at the time. I'd love to see an original broadcast of "Don't Eat the Snow." Has anyone ever heard of a recording floating around?

Very Awesome, I have dvd's of "Don't Eat the Snow in Hawaii" & "Infinity and Jelly Doughnuts" that are orginal recordings with all the commercials.

MagnumILWU, I would love to buy or trade you for the copies you have. I can also transfer the tapes to high quality dvd's as well. :D

Did you buy those Brian or did you transfer them yourself?

I traded for the two episodes I have. I also have many, many hours of unedited Mtv from the 80's.

I'll have to see what I have. I'm going to keep them, but I don't mind if copies are made. Maybe we can get you to copy them, and offer them to other members at cost, if they want a copy. There might be 2 VHS tapes, hopefully the whole episodes. But it is still a great look back to the early 80's! I'm sure there are promo's for, Simom & Simon,(and other shows) which followed Magnum then!

I bought the 5 original broadcast tapes that were offered on EBay recently.

I haven't received them yet, but when I get them, I'll call in a favor from a buddy who works at one of the local tv stations (His name's not Rick, unfortunately) and get them transfered.

I'm hoping there'll be some promos, etc on 'em. I'll let you know.
