Because if you click on the link for Ruby, it goes to a different wikipedia article on the color Ruby, which lists the RGB values as (224, 17, 95).

In general, any kind of pink involves the R value being pretty high, the B value being lower than the R, and the G value being lower than the B. And that's exactly what Ruby's RGB value of (224, 17, 95) is.

Note, also, that Ruby is listed as both a shade of pink, and as a shade of red:

Here is an online color selector:

http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html

At the left of the screen, enter values each for R, G, and B, of anywhere between 0 and 255, and then click on "Set RGB" to see the color. Make sure your browser's javascript is turned on first.

LOL! Well...learning some interesting info. Don't know what RGB values are  , but I still consider Ruby a color of red, as that's all I've ever heard it being referred to. It's usually a darker, more blood red color than say what we think of Crayola or "regular" red as being. But, perhaps it's also a shade of pink as well?

Whatever the case, I don't think Magnum (or Crockett and Tubbs in "Miami Vice") ever wore any shade of Ruby. The few times Magnum wore a pink shirt, and all the ones Crockett wore in "MV", were definitely more on the lighter, pastel side. That was the style in the 80's...and it's back right now! :)
