Huh-oh. Looks as though I need to crochet a new baseball hat for MGI so I can glue this patch on the front . . . .

Automotive hat

I would be interested in purchasing this patch with it sewn onto the hat. Let me know for payment. Thanks

Hi, new here. I've found home finally!

I would be very interested in a patch and or combination of hat/patch. Perhaps two, as my brother would probably want one as well. Let me know the details.

Absolutely great job on the patch by the way. A true MPI fan you are!

Just FYI, Since coming up with the concept, I have changed jobs, and will have very little time for this project. Although I still intend to have the patches made, I most likely will not have the time to do the leg work of ordering caps, and having them sewn onto a cap. At some point in the near future (when I'm able) I will make the patches available, but it will be up to those wanting them to have the caps made. Sorry, but my life has changed very dramatically in the past two weeks, and I just won't be able to have the caps done.

looking for another great cap

#21 Post by rauswerfer »

hi guys,

sorry to go offtopic just a little. I just bought the season 3 dvd yesterday and "fell" over a blue cap with white stripes and a yellow patch with a helicopter on it t.c. is wearing (the first time in 3.9 mr. white death I belive). does anybody has a clue, if there is a place I can buy this cap?

if anyone could post a screenshot of the cap that'd be great - somehow I don't get it done with my dvd-player. the best pictures should be possible in episode 3.10 mixed double.

greets from germany, felix

The helicopter on the patch is a red and white Hughes 500D if I recall correctly. The cap was a Hughes promo item. It was at one time available from Hughes, but that was a looooooong time ago.

Da-da-da-daa .... here it is:

I think it's cool that T.C. is wearing a "Hughes Helicopters" cap and all, but man, that is one ugly looking cap! Even for the 80s! ;)

BTW, welcome rauswerfer!

That is nasty. Kind of reminds me of the Pittsburgh Pirates / Jororo caps. Looks like a blue and white stovepipe

I always liked TC's blue cap that had the cross of loraine, his helicopter, and his initials embroidered on it.

I want to see a picture of this hat. I need to make both of these hats for TC GI, but I think I'll put the Hughes patch on a red hat. That blue and white striped is just TOO "cat in the hat" for me. I like the patch though, so I'll put it on a red hat.

So let's see a picture of the one N1095A mentioned, please. James? Can you find it?

Okay Golf, I did a (Poor) photoshop of the cap design. The script is wrong, I don't have the right font on my computer, but it's more of a fancy script like the Detroit Tigers D script. Anyway, Anyway, this is just to give you an idea.

Reproducing the Al's Automotive cap is a fantastic idea, and they would quickly sell on eBay. The concern here is to get them as authentic as possible. The patch seems to be a screenprinted cloth patch sewn onto the hat, not an embroidered patch. The seriff of the TIGERS has square edges, unlike the round edges in the proof shown earlier in this thread. MPI fans would gobble these up, much like the VM02 caps available online.

Hi Guys, I was just wondering if you were still planning to produce the Al's badge to put on the caps because I would certainly like one!
Keep me informed please!

I still plan on having the patches done. Right now it's on hold due to finances and time. I'm hoping to have them done in the spring or summer, '08.
