I'm tired of looking so I'm getting some made. These will be 3.25" wide x 2.25" high. These will be embroidered in the proper colors. I sent a picture from this site to an embroiderer.
What do you recommend or want? 99% or 100% embroidery coverage?
Adhesive back is available as is iron on and just plain....you have to sew on. I am going to get extras as it is not cost effective to buy a few.
Hence, I will keep 5 or so and sell the rest. If I can get enough interest for the forum members they could be $5 to $6/each plus postage....a stamp and envelope....maybe $1 more? Much cheaper for you to get the trucker's hat than for me to buy them and pay more to ship to you.
If you find the hat on eBay you'll end up paying more. $30...patch+hat! Currently there is one listed that would be at least $30.50 + $6.95 s/h. There you go. Why buy one when you can have a bunch for the same cost?
I don't want to be penny-wise/pound foolish so let me hear what you think along with recommended backing. If I can get committments for 1/2 the order I'll spriing for it. If I get only 25 or so then I'll get 50. Price goes up to $9. If only 10-15 commit then the cost is $15. If you folks can commit to 50 total then the cost goes way down. I'll worry about the last 50! So, buy 5 for yourself and you won't have to ever worry about losing your hat.
I'm so tired of waiting as you all are!
I guess I'd post my email address and let whoever wants them to send me their address. I'd mail them and you mail me the $$. Lead time is 10 days to shipment so with the turnaround figure maybe 3 weeks to you from when I order. I will get something going NLT May 8.....this Friday.
This hat will be my permanent paddling hat and will be worn by me in this year's Moloka'i Hoe Race!!

That's exactly what I got tired of also Jaybird....waiting. So I did what alot of us on here had to do..make our own. I've heard that alot of people's trys went off pretty easy. I can tell you mine did not. I had to take back the patch 4 or 5 times before it was to my liking. It's funny how something so simple as a patch made me pull out my hair at times. LOL I do have the luxury of having them made in my own town, I try to keep my money circulating in my own community if and when I can...though not as often as I like. But they also don't give discounts on how many I make..which would have been nice. The hats I've sold on ebay really took off..I was amazed how strong the shows interest still is. However no matter how expensive they've gotten I've always and still do offer the hat for forum members for $24.99 plus shipping. I wish I cold have gotten them down cheapier, but for what I pay for the hats and patches I couldn't. I hope your pacthes turn out and you can offer the forum members what I was trying to do..."the cheapiest prices in town"..sounds like a tv add....LOL Also good luck on that race coming up, I wonder if anyone identifys the hat..keep us posted.

Jaybird, thank you for offering to do this! Can you post a picture when you have the prototype ready?
Something else to think about, you could probably sell a bunch on eBay to recoup some of the cost. There are many Magnum fans out there that don't know about this site, but most surely would about eBay.

Hey Jaybird how are the patches coming along? I'd like to see how yours came out. I was also wondering if you or any of the other guys on here who collect magnum props has ever noticed that all the patches I've seen of the Da Nang patches are close but not exact, Magnum's appears to have no borders on it, almost like a big piece of material just laying on the hat and the eagle in the middle is smaller than most of the patches that are out there, anyone thought of making this patch as well? I now that finding a fitted navy blue hat with green underbill is next to impossible...at least for me so far!!!

A few of us have tried to get this project off the ground many times without success. I hope it works out great for you. Best of luck! MAGNUM-MANIA member "only looking" (Stephen) has done a great job with the project, and has Al's caps available. He's listed in the "Magnum Gear" section, and also sells them on Ebay.
