Re: Never Again ... Never Again (1.7)

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I noticed something while I was showing this episode to the family last night (it was my turn to choose what we saw). What I noticed was that for about around an hour or two of screen time (from the breaching of Robin's next till after the discover...

Re: Pics of the old estate

Nice catch Perfectlykevin ! Very good quality pics indeed. Glad to see that the guardhouse had survived, at least for its most visible part.

Too bad you didn't take your bathing gear under your work suit ! 8)

Top Gun Opening Theme - Harold Faltermeyer

It always gives me chills... :D I might trade the 308 GTS for an F-14, but where the hell do you park it?

Re: Reason why TM goes by Thomas not Tom

First of all, I must thank you for your appreciation, here I feel accepted and that's what counts. I am probably not as knowledgeable or relevant as some and some subtleties escape me but that is not the point. You talk about your story, I'll tell you a little bit about mine. When I was a child, unt...

Re: Reason why TM goes by Thomas not Tom

I am quite attracted to Pahonu's idea of pronunciation constraints. For me this is the right answer. Of course, in the classical way in France, the full first name (except if it is definitely too long) is much more used by respect especially at the beginning of a relationship. Afterwards, with a li...

Re: Reason why TM goes by Thomas not Tom

I’m going to throw out a thought I’ve actually had for a long time but haven’t considered in years, until this interesting question. Bear with me, because this has to do with linguistics, particularly spoken language, and I learned about the concept reading a book on the topic. (Yes, boring for man...

Re: All Hands on Deck! Intel needed: How close to reality is TM's financial/job situation?

Why is TM always broke? Actually, I've never really asked myself that question. I've always accepted (in the meta reality of the show...) that this aspect of things made it much easier to be hilarious and humorous. Sort of a 'breeding ground' for theatrical dialogue. Following Styles and Pahonu adv...

Re: All Hands on Deck! Intel needed: How close to reality is TM's financial/job situation?

I second Pahonu with LMAO. I appreciated both your posts, Pahonu and Styles. Thank you for that. Hell if I could change places with TM, I'm there now. Absolutely this is male fantasy maxed. And it doesn't get old, does it.  The show is now ancient and the cobwebs thick at our places whil...

Re: Reason why TM goes by Thomas not Tom

This is a very good question and a bit of a mystery. If instead of "Thomass", the pronunciation had been "Thoma", I would have leaned towards saying that it had to do with his past shared with French relatives...(His wife Michèle, Philippe 'La Bulle'...).

Re: Obama tore down Robin's Nest with video

Panohu, i must say that I essentially share your point of view. As a lawyer, I am prone to stick to proven facts. And I must say that , in the case of the Pahonu demise, I think that the simplest explanation is probably the best until proven otherwise. This property, where I dreamed of living when I...

Re: Magnum P.I. Filming Locations - A Rubber Chicken Guide

A little off topic break... :D For the few who are fond of historical footage, here are two links among others: Nice view of Aloha tower terminal during WW2 on this one (with a kind of camouflage). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9UFnspTdqk Impressive 1944 kodak sequence with several areas depicted...
