Re: Was Higgins a stand-in for Magnum's mom?
My kids and I often refer to my wife as "Higgins" due to all the, er, nagging she does. Naturally, she only does this when I am acting like a slob, not cleaning up after myself, you know, all the usual TM kinds of stuff.

Re: Roger on reboot.
The real issue for me isn’t Roger appearing as a barber. My issue is that the re-boot has created nothing but one-dimensional characters who serve only to back up TM. New TC and new Rick have done nothing interesting, nor do we even get a glimpse of their lives outside of TMs cases. Has new TC even ...

Re: Which Episode was this line in?
I don’t recall him saying that, however, TM and Tanaka do have a discussion about the Steve Kemp for Chet Lemon deal. That trade occurred before the 1982 season.

Re: Season 1 Episode 13: Day of the Viper (1.13)
The worst episode to date...and that’s really saying something! The Rick side-story was dreadful at best. The writers even screwed up the inclusion of Stalag 17 as it had zero purpose except to say “Hey, the real Magnum (Selleck) ‘enjoyed’ this film so let’s throw it into an episode.”

Re: Season 1 Episode 12: Winner Takes All (1.12)
Does anyone actually have a job to get to on this show? Rick, TC, and Higgins seem to have nothing better to do (even during the day) than gleefully assist on another case. The KKC and Island Hoppers are bankrupt by episode 11!! And what of Higgins' philanthropic pursuits on behalf of Robin Masters?...

Re: Magnum transports me... does this make any sense?
I agree with so much of what has already been posted; here's my addition... I was 10 when Magnum first aired. Thus, the eight-year run of the show coincided with my own "Coming of Age" from 5th grader to senior year of high school. Today, I watch the entire series at least once every two years, and ...

Re: New Magnum on Mondays! And new trailer!
Of all the things that disturbed me after watching this trailer, perhaps the greatest is how short Jay Hernandez appears..so I looked up his height on google...5’9”! I keep thinking of TM towering over Higgins saying, “Let’s see, I’m 6’4” so that would make you...” A 5’9” Magnum paddling a surf-ski ...

Re: RIP John Hillerman
All great stuff! As for me, I fall asleep nearly every night watching the next Magnum episode in the series. I have for the past several years found tremendous comfort and solace in the rhythms of the show. More often than not, this special solace is derived from the mere voices of the characters. I...

I believe you're missing the biggest connection: When police officer Suitcase Simpson comes out of his coma, he utters the phrase, "A pint of Stout." Sound familiar?

Re: Basket Case (3.15)
I recall seeing this episode when it first aired. All that my friends and I could talk about the next day was TM dunking in the one-on-one game! As young sports fans, it endeared us even more to TS. However, I do have to disagree with many of you who consider the actress that portrayed Willie to be ...

If memory serves me correctly, you can see Roger lifting weights in a scene from the 1979 film "The Jericho Mile."

I guess I've always been attracted to beauty AND athleticism. Sound like a vote for Erin Grey with her surf-ski? Not so fast. Give me the dark-haired beauty that pitches for Buzz Benoit's team of ringers in "Squeeze Play." No wonder Rick couldn't hit worth a darn!

When Life Imitates Art
Just a few days ago I inherited a decent amount of money from an uncle I hardly knew at all. This uncle jilted his own family in lieu of giving me much of what he had. Stunned beyond belief, I was lucid enough to get home and put in Season 3's "Of Sound Mind," in which T.M. is willed $50 million. Th...
