Re: Tropical Madness (2.7)

Just a little FYI. Roy Dotrice, who played Harcourt, had a daughter named Michele who was married to the great Edward Woodward of Breaker Morant (among many other things). https://i.imgur.com/qa5qQ0p.gif As a boy who grew up in '70s England Michele Dotrice was best known to me as the wife of haples...

Re: Transitions (8.11)

I agree generally, although it took a while for Manetti to get the Rick character, I think. Manetti even commented that after the “Bogey Rick” character from the pilot was dropped, along with the night club, he wasn’t given much if any direction on the character. Yeah you're right there - of the ma...

Re: Mac's Back (5.3)

So I was watching this episode yesterday, and after seeing TM's red eyes during the opening scene it really got me wondering if he was stoned! I came here looking if anyone else thought the same, but haven't seen anything. Do you think it was just a result of his drinking and past events, or could ...

Re: The Arrow That is Not Aimed (3.14)

Yep it's exactly the reverse of what Selleck's character (Lance White) told Rockford, that the clues will just come to you and things always work themselves out. Rockford was the one telling Lance that he's naive and that things don't just come to you, you have to go and look for them. I just...

I just remembered that that was not the final scene. It was of TM breaking the 4th wall and using the remote to turn off the video camera saying, "Good Night."
That seemed a really odd way to end the series to me: it just didn't seem to fit.

Not sure what I can add that hasn't already been said, but I think this would have been a perfectly acceptable ending to the series. So many great moments.

Re: Solo Flight (7.16)

I don't recall ever having seen this one until I saw it recently on DVD. I think I agree with the others who have said it is essentially "Home from the Sea", but I still liked it. Whilst HFTS showed us something about how Magnum ended up in the Hawaii living the life he was and established the bond ...

Higgins volunteering his time to help reform young offenders does show his charitable works are not all about high brow cultural events for the privileged in luxurious environs. It does show the quality of man - I love Higgy ! The title of the episode threw me initially as I thought as it's an Amer...

Re: Kapu (7.10)

Looking back at my comment on this a few years back (February 2016) and, having watched this on DVD tonight it shows I must be changing as I found it a slow, overly talky episode. There were some nice touches here and there but overall I’m not sure what I saw in this previously. I completely agree ...

Re: Novel Connection (7.9)

I really liked how both parts (the Magnum episode and the Murder, She Wrote episode) each "felt" like their respective series, but Jessica and Magnum both seemed in character. Really sensetive writing I thought.

Re: Paper War (7.8)

A great episode and it really seems they had "upped" their game as they knew they were coming to the end of the series. I recall at the time not being surprised that Magnum confronted Higgins about being Robin Masters: there were rumors/fan theories about it long before the writers of the show decid...

Re: Death and Taxes (7.6)

What a great episode. I am a massive fan of Film Noir, so this pushed all the right buttons for me. It was a hard one to rate however: as a stand alone thriller with connections to previous cases, it was excellent. As a Magnum PI, I am not sure given the absence of series regulars.

Re: I wish Tom Selleck made 7 Magnum, PI movies

I can totally envision the Jesse Stone movies having been "Thomas Magnum" movies. Retired from Navy. Living in Tidewater, Virginia. Friends in the police force he could help with cases. They would have began the show with 8 years of character development already in the bag. There could have been so...

Maybe I'm the only one still following along with the 40th anniversary... ? I think I watched "Dream a Little Dream" recently, but I know I still need to watch "I Witness." I am late to the party, but this sounds like a great idea. I'm watching my way through about 1 a week, but like the idea of wa...

Re: One Picture is Worth (7.3)

I just watched this for the first time and, after the slog that was LA (at least for me), I really liked it: vintage Magnum.

And Higgins impersonating Magnum was not only hilarious, but actually fit with the character and the plot.
