Re: The John Hillerman Thread
I can't give enough superlatives to John Hillerman for his portrayal of Higgins. Plus I'll give Bellasario credit for realizing what a superb actor he had in John Hillerman and the two of them really pushed pushed the envelope in exploring the unique character of JQ Higgins. He could have remained j...

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
Have to give this a 10. Hillerman is a riot as Father Paddy. Looks like he had fun doing it. Very entertaining story, although it is mostly a character study of the Higgins family, Jonathan and Paddy. The subplot of Magnum investigating a boxers philandering wife was good, what a shocking ending! BT...

Re: Almost Home (3.11)
I’ll also go along with the consensus that Kathleen Lloyd was much sexier in this role than she ever was as Carol Baldwin. Never really cared for that character. Also liked seeing Agatha and Maggie in this episode, before they would really become semi-regulars later in the show run. Good episode, ga...

Re: I Witness (4.21)
A rather fun, comedic episode, one in which all 4 of the main characters share equal screen time. Back in the 70's there was an episode of "All in the Family" that used this idea of having the show characters telling their version of an event, which of course was completely different from each other...

Re: Legend of the Lost Art (8.10)
Very entertaining comedic episode. I really liked Margaret Colin as Connie Northrup as TM's old lover or as he described "he was engaged to be engaged to" or something. In any case, they did seem to have real chemistry and fun together, something that seemed to be lacking somewhat in his relationshi...

Re: Operation: Silent Night (4.10)
An enjoyable episode that shows the camaraderie that has now grown between TM, TC, Rick and Higgins. Speaking of Higgy, he is the only one who is totally thrilled about the possible notion of this turning into a possible survival test, the only regret being that the "lads" couldn't be stranded with ...

Re: Letter to a Duchess (4.6)
Somewhat similar to season 2's "Tropical Madness" once again we have TM and Higgins in a love triangle with another lovely and demure Brit. Given that TM & Hig are about 25 years apart in age this would seem unlikely. Vivian's age would probably be about halfway. It's always entertaining to see this...

Re: Luther Gillis: File #521 (4.2)
Of all the recurring characters in MPI. Luther was my favorite, even better than Higgins assorted half-brothers. Eugene Roche was superb in the role. It could have been easy to portray Luther as a clownish buffoon and while he certainly is that at times, Luthor is also loyal, resourceful, completely...

Re: Who is Don Luis Higgins? .... (6.19)
I love all the Higgins episodes and this is no exception. Actually, they stole the idea of the half-brothers from "F Troop" a funny sitcom from the 60's about a cavalry troop that took place at the mythical Fort Courage in the 1870's American west. Larry Storch was a co-star to Forrest tucker, playi...

Re: All Thieves on Deck (6.15)
Fun episode, although Apollo getting shot was heart wrenching. Of course you knew he would recover, but excellent performances by the lads. Brilliant job by Hillerman at the vets office. Higgins was doing everything he could to remain the stoic soldier but he's clearly on pins and needles. Also inte...

Re: The Treasure of Kalaniopu'u (6.9)
I liked the light-heartedness of this episode, and as others have pointed out, seeing quite a number of series "regular" bit part players all assembed in the same story. I also was reminded of the Mad Mad Mad World movie, which is a hoot, to be sure. The same thought occurred to me concerning the W...

Re: The Elmo Ziller Story (2.21)
Terrific episode, mostly comedic. Gave it a 9.5. After some weaker episodes in year 2, the writing began to hit its stride late in year 2, with this and "Texas Lightning" They began adding more dimensions to Higgins character as for the first, but not last time we would meet a Higgins half-brother.....

Re: Double Jeopardy (2.19)
I also thought this may have worked better as a pure comedic episode, TM as a stunt double. I liked when they were showing the rushes, when the "Sushi Brothers" were beating the crap out of TM as Jack Martin's character and Higgins had a huge smile on his face, truly enjoying it. BTW, haven't seen ...

Re: Resolutions (1) (8.12)
Wow this is another terrific thread. I especially enjoy when you guys catch mistakes or in jokes. I feel like a dilettante in comparison. I may being going out on a limb but I would like to address the question of who Robin Masters really is in light of Higgins "confession" in Resolutions. A lot of...
