I just figured out Gary is the Priest from Tales of the Gold Monkey

I messed up the image in my previous post and couldn't edit it.

Here it is again, Gary looks a little different:

A mediocre effort, it just seems thrown together, with just enough gauze and duct tape on the script to keep it from falling apart, but just barely. Also, it's always seemed to me like the Nick character is overdone. I think they could have toned him down a little and still successfully had a character who was having trouble back in the world. Also, I'm pretty sure that the scene with Higgins is the most gratuitous shirt-off scene of the entire series for TM. I mean, what is with these two poses?

The one part of this episode that really is touching to me is the interactions with Nick in the fruit grove. As I get older, I can appreciate what these guys went through.

The twist revealed during the ultimate scene is quite good and i liked Nick Character. In my opinion, it was played quite well and the scene at the beach clearing, with this Vet living withdrawn of the world as an hermit, was my favorite for that episode.

I think this opus is somewhat underrated here.

Hi GM,
I have enjoyed your posts and welcome. The vet was played by Wings Hauser. Have a look at a movie called "Siege At Fire Base Gloria" (1989) . Wings Hauser stars as a hardened Vietnam Veteran with many tours under his belt. This underated action movie confirms what a great actor he is.

Bonjour Terryfromkerry and thanks a lot for welcoming and for your kind appreciation  :D .

Yes, i was stunned in a sense by the way he played Nick… It was both creepy and endearing… During the "Beach clearing", scene you could bet he is on the brink to shoulder his M-16 (or was it a CAR-15?) against poor TM… The real strengh of the episode was (for me) to show what could have become the "dark side" of TM, besides we learned he stayed in an hospital due to his psychological condition after 'Nam.

I will try to get my hands on a copy of the movie you pointed me.

Watch Gary’s cigarette ash in the opening scene where he meets Kacy... the length goes from long to short suggesting different takes were made to complete the scene

A very good episode in season 2. Wings Hauser is great it in it. I only wished Vic Morrow had more to do in the show. He was great in Combat!.
