Faith and Begorrah (3.23)

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
Just remembered something. He also asks for Scotch and specifies no ice in S1 “Skin Deep.”
Outside of “F&B” he’s never seen with ice in a drink, I’m 100% sure.

I did some comparison photos using Google Maps showing how much the "Low Surf Motel" has changed.
The "Low Surf Motel" is nowadays the Hotel Renew, and man has it been renewed!

Top: Higgins in the Audi driving up Lemon Rd.
Bottom: Same view today. I couldn't get quite the same angle, and the top photo is compressed by the camera lens, making Diamond Head seem closer than it is. That looks like it might be the same palm tree at the end of the street!

Higgins pulls over to his left on Lemon Rd. and parks somewhere in the area you see in the bottom pic.

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
Here Higgins is about to get out of the car. We are looking across Lemon Rd., and that ABC Store is STILL THERE! See middle photo. But they no longer have a storefront on Lemon Rd. And the clothing store next door to it is now the parking level of the apartments above (see bottom pic).
The ABC storefront now facing Paoakalani Ave. The green awning on the right of the building faces Lemon Rd. and was the storefront seen behind Higgins as he exits the Audi.

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
Here's where things really start to change. Higgins is walking into an entrance on Lemon St. that is no longer there. It has been replaced by large windows and a planter in the bottom pic. Like the ABC Store, the Hotel Renew entrance now fronts Paoakalani. The two people in the bottom pic are walking down Lemon, towards Paoakalani.

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
Big changes! These two photos are the same angle! The doorway Higgins is walking through is now a lovely seating area, and the convenience store behind bars on the right, once a separate business, was apparently bought out by the hotel, then removed and that space is filled with the new front desk area.

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
I couldn't get the same angle on these two photos, but there is the old convenience store barred off from the rest of the building with the staircase to its right. Now the store is the front desk. At the right in the bottom pic is what was the old front desk area.

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
At the top is a montage of two photos showing Higgins walking towards the old front desk. He passes the restrooms, which are still there. The space between them is taken up by a coffee machine.
I spotted a continuity error! The out-of-order sign on the men's room door moves from the right side to the left.

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
At the end of the original lobby Higgins finds Donald Bellisario behind the front desk eating fried chicken and drinking a Coop's. That space today is taken up by a ritzy little bar area.

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
I couldn't get a similar angle here but Higgins walks past an open doorway (still there, closed door in bottom pic) and faces the elevators (also still there). The DVD rental machine is new!

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)
Finding the elevators out of order, Higgins turns back towards the stairs. This isn't even close to the same angle, but the same elements are in it: the stairs, the barred convenience store (now front desk on the right, beyond the stairs in bottom pic), and we are now facing the original entrance (window straight ahead) with our backs to Bellisario's old desk area.
Suffice to say I don't think Father Paddy could afford to stay here now...

Potential magnumania usernames: Legs, Suntan
I found the ending disturbing, as it was so out of character with the rest of the episode. I don't think I'd have had a problem ending the episode like that if it fit with the tone of the whole, i.e. a dark episode ends darkly. But to just toss this very odd dark turn in at the end of a comic episode like this one is just too jarring. I can't see what they trying to achieve.
