Wow! I'm surprised at how "contemporary" that ad looks! 1979 seems like the eighties, yet 1980 was still sort of the 1970s...anyone know what I mean? There's always some overlap in the decades...anyway...thanks for the link!

It's a 1974 or older Ferrari 246 Dino. I couldn't get a screen grab from the commercial because the video quality was so poor, but I found a print ad with the same car.
Great find, Mike.........That Dino is one great looking car, reminds me of my wannabe dino/corvette I was driving around in the mid-seventies, an Opel GT. Oh, and of course the GT was as close to those cars as I was to Tom Selleck in a Tux and Cowboy Boots!
Kind of a weird combination, Tux, Cowboy boots and hat, and Ferrari. I wonder what they were going for, Cowboy/playboy? The Chaz ads are most likely where the idea for Lee Horsley's Matt Houston character came from.
Hello, people from the past. This is Croix de Lorraine writing from the future. I bet Bellisario was consciously or unconsciously inspired by this commercial when he decided to have Magnum drive a red Ferrari.
By the way, the Opel GT was a nice little car in its own right. Nothing to be ashamed about.
